Odd phrase "poor service" Yes we keep our door shut to stop theft and such like, as there isn't always someone on the shop floor... The is also a sign in the window which says press buzzer for entry... hey and people can always call us for any info they need re: opening times and stocks... Mines a stella :bassist:

:smug: Maybe Alex, but "might seem like "poor service"" and the explanation that followed it, was a deliberately worded phrase to counter any critiscism that a shop with a locked door might not the be the best way to attract customers.

Plus, the whole reason for me posting this in the first place, was that nickbear wrote of your store that it, " ...just always seems to be closed when i have days off work"

That suggests to me that he's only driven past on a week day and seen the door shut :hmm:.

I was trying to do a good PR job for you there, I hope that you got that ;)!?

So, mine's a Stella too :D.

I got that you weren't having a go... just saying it was an odd coin of phrase and i wasn't having a go either... i was just pointing out to other people that is how is run.. and we do make every effort to make customers aware of it.

Well I'm glad you two are sorted. Who's round is it?

There was shop in Sydney where you'd have to ring or knock for someone to let you in to perve at a CAR early 60's Fender.

The Gallery sounds like my kind of shop.
Here in Brisbane one shop in the city has a security guard standing at the entrance who often makes you leave any bags at the door.
Others have automatic entry doors that open when you're within a few feet.
Do shops have mojo?

I'm buying direct from Sadowsky NYC this time - TB'ers give me the impression the shop and staff have good energy.
Who's been there?

What's CAR? Looked it up and only found "Civil Aviation Regulation". So does that mean the early-60's Fender was flown in on a private civilian plane? *shrugs*

I think shops definitely do have mojo! Take one step in David Gage's or Roger Sadowsky's shop and you'll be a believer!

Yes, the Sadowsky shop and staff have great energy. I've been there lots of times.

Last time I was there, Roger happened to be there and my friend (who'd never been there) got to meet him. The ever-helpful Nino helped us with some questions and I even got to ask one of the main assembly/setup guys about his special tricks. Last time I was at the shop I saw him using something to run up and down each edge of the fingerboard. Looked like it might've been for the frets. Turns out it was a razor blade to soften the sharp edges of the FB after coming from the cutters.

Anyway, everybody's super cool and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

your door better be open next week! i have to go to london for a week and i might use my time off work to check out some basses.
your inventory is quite impressive!

yes it is the shop in camden, the bass gallery i think its called! the shop has always been closed even when i have tried to ring the bell, aparently they have better opening times though.. im going to head to camden soon when i have some more money i can devote to my bass addiction!cant wait!
