Grover Bass Tuning Machines?

THose should be fine. 2 bass and 2 treble refers to the 2+2 arrangement of the headstock because the direction the shaft will turn relative to the direction of the lever, as opposed to an in-line setup where they all turn the same direction.

The determining factor is the diameter of the holes.

If it is wrong it must be drilled or plugged and drilled
to the correct diameter.

It's easier to buy the correct size.

1:20 refers to the ratio of the gear,

Aye yi yi!!! I'm not experienced enough for that! I think I'll just leave it black.

It is no big deal. The hole size for those tuners
is 35/64 inch. That is a standard size.

You can loosen the string, take off the nut on
one tuner. Then you can see the hole. Measure
it. You may be off a 1/32, but you will be close
enough to tell.

You need to compare that size with any tuners
you buy. There are only a couple of standard
sizes, so it's not so complicated,

Thanks Dog!!!

Buy these, instead:

HB6Y - 1/2'' Y Key Ultralite > Store > Hipshot Products

The best you can get, they will drop right in, no mods needed. Those Grovers are no better than the ones you are replacing. :eyebrow:

I was pretty disappointed in those tuners. I got a set, they were VERY sloppy. Hipshot replaced them under warranty. The replacements were better but still a little sloppy and they didn't turn smoothly. I ended up using Gotohs, which were much better.

Hmm, I have been putting Ultralites on my basses for almost 15 years now and have never come across sloppy ones. Did you have the tension adjusted correctly, or, were yours not USA made ones?

The tuners in your bass are the same model as what's listed in your amazon link.

Dean uses the Grover Mini 144 tuners on most of their basses. They're the same as the Gotoh GB7 also

Edit: Sorry to bump a semi-old thread, but I figured I'd throw in some more information
