Sternodox is a pretty cool dude too...even back 50 years ago when we were USAF. Talked music and listened to a lot of it back in the day. What an adventure you had with your dad! Thanks for sharing MK.

Red Rock was awesome and I use that word with it's proper meaning. What a fantastic natural theatre it is. I have photos of my 2 years old daughter on stage behind the screen. She has just turned 45. Nice memories.

It is a great planet! It's a good thing we didn't blow it up. I had no idea you were here either...until I read about the resort in AK, and then the pic with Ruby sealed it. Dad had zero illusions about stardom, and the only album he ever bought was a Johnny Cash one. He once got an invitation to Paul McCartney's birthday party and he said, "Who?" He didn't go.
He was so down to earth that even people like Cher morphed into reg'lar 'ol folks when he talked to them. He was always first on the list and got to choose which bands he worked with. Heart was always first on his list.

Rest his soul. Sounds like a way cool dad with great stories. Thanks for sharing. Must have had that classic American-ness culture with him to make stars feel at ease. Sadly with the state of the country currently, that era trait is rare these days.
Rock and roll and growing up are 2 mutually exclusive terms.
We could get KAAY clearly up here in North/Central Wisconsin in the 60's, most nights. My favorite station. I have so many great memories.

I used to drive the 1 hour north to Fly By Night. It was the most incredible place in the middle of nowhere. You looking for something vintage? They had it and I’m not kidding. Started going in 1993 until they closed in 2014 or so.
Had four years of one-nighters from 1978-82, most of it by bus, and am here to tell you that a level-headed bus driver with people skills is worth their weight in gold. Drivers with party/hang-out aspirations are a genuine hazard. Your Dad clearly was one of the good ones! Thanks for sharing.
