GT-1B PROCESSOR PERMANENT SETTING CHANGES

Hi Guys Girls,

A few months ago I downloaded a driver from the Boss website that allows me to record straight to DAW via USB. It went well after a little reading and setting adjustments.

I've added two more control switches for CTL2 and CTL3 (the foot switches), and you probably know once I power down the settings for those are gone.

I know I have to download more, but it gets ambiguous as the manual is a little vague on what download does what, then I get to the website and I'm not yet sure what else I need.

Is it just one more download so I can make permanent settings to the GT-1B through my computer ?

I have a Mac with M1 silicon, (latest Monterrey) and there is one download there that specifies it's for M1.

Besides those 2 downloads/drivers the rest are just other people's patches ?

I don't want to download things I don't need. Between using a DAW and a Mac for the first time it's a wonder I get anything recorded

I'd appreciate any experience or suggestions on this if you have any.

Thanks,

Joe

Once you download a patch it’s initial setting a should be saved into that patch. If you add things or make adjustments to that patch you have to save again so those new settings are persistent in that patch. Each download is a unique collection of settings. Those stay saved in that patch in their original configuration unless you save any changes you make. I am not sure what you are asking if that doesn’t answer your questions.

I'm under the impression that I need to connect to a computer to make certain changes, even with stock parameters. Maybe I'm wrong... ?

There is an easy way to save factory patches I've edited.

So I can save patches.

How can I save other settings such as pedal assignment ?

You can select factory patches and make changes but as soon as you switch to a new patch and go back, the factory patch resets. You need to select a patch that you want to change, make adjustments and then use the save (write) buttons to save this as a new patch in the user U001 etc section. Those will stay however you save them as. All things can be changed in the menu options, there’s a master menu and the patch menu some things are in each. I find it easier to make edits on the computer so I can see everything at once but it is possible to make the settings on the GT-1B itself inside the menus. Again, only the U001-U### patches are changeable with saving.

I'm just here to echo Furym. YOU HAVE TO DO THE WRITE PROCEDURE TO SAVE THE PATCH. I'm not even certain that doing the firmware upgrade will help here.

The other thing you can do is to save the control functions into the global so they do the same thing on every patch. For instance, my ctrl2,3 switch is a patch up/down switch in the global settings, so it does the patch switching regardless of the patch I'm in.

It really is an amazing pedal if you dig way in. Things like using additional assigns to change multiple parameters. I had mine set up as a full pedalboard replacement with “ambient” and “drive” multiple settings changing with single button presses.

Yeah, thanks that's what I was missing and needed to hear. Global etc, universal....

Still these downloads seem ambiguous.

I know I downloaded a driver. It's listed on my laptop and I used it to record to DAW.

Aside from that I think all a might need to do is figure out how to download TONE STUDIO so I can get those fancy pics up on my laptop once I connect the GT1B via USB.

That's where I'm hanging up for some reason at the moment so if you got anything else I'll take it..

Thanks guys I think I'll grab my BOSS and make a few global settings now.

Much Appreciated !!!!

Tone studio doesn't just puts the pedal's features in an eaisier to access format, it doesn't have any hidden features to access like a Source Audio pedal or something along those lines.

It's not necessary, but if you think you'll like the interface it's worth getting.

Awesome stuff for me anyway. I blew past all the red tape and downloaded boss tone studio.

It opened up quickly and recognized my GT1B. I can write to the user positions. I'm wondering what would happen if I downloaded tone studio for the GT1, not the GT1B as I'm currently using a guitar through it.

What started all this was I decided to go solo or duo, and needed a looper to play rhythm while I played lead....

It might not work well or at all but there's no harm in trying it....

Thanks much appreciated. I was more frustrated with trying to figure out what drivers/ downloads I needed, and where were they exactly. It's not my primary concern to download other patches from other people, but more in how to save my own changes, not only to my own patches, but to the changes such as pedal assignment etc. If I'm going to use one external pedal with two separate foot switches (3 total) I'd want that to be the setting whenever I turned the boss on. If I don't plug the external pedals in I don't have that extra control, if I plug them in I do.

But downloading the tone boss ??? Finally I can see how easy it is to make changes then write them....

It was just one of those things I wanted to know exactly what I was doing before I did it, and it didn't work out that way.

I knew I already had a driver installed to go USB for recording to DAW, so I just downloaded the tone boss or whatever it's called. Thanks for the help. !!!!

This all started because I plan on going solo acoustic to get some gigs. I needed a looper for guitar and remembered the gt1b for bass had it.

I plugged in and it seemed to work well for guitar.

Then a day or two later I start looking into external pedals online, I remember I have an older KUSTOM pedal in my trunk, I go home put a meter on it, clean up the contacts, and it works perfectly both switches.

The only thing is these are both mechanical latching switches so I can't really do momentary operations, I set the pedal operation to m momentary but since it latches and it's mechanical not an electronic latch, it just toggles and I have to hit the foot switches once to turn on and once for off. I may try setting the switch to toggle, but I'm pretty sure either way they'll only operate in a Google fashion do to the physical switch design.

In any case I'm stoked, and band wait to look into the virtual 6 switch setup and see if that can work for me.

I got the switch from a buddy who cleaned out his closet and thought I may be able to use it. I didn't think I needed it but turns out it was a gift of the gods. It also saved me a lot of money although they won't work as well as the ones online with polarity and latch/ toggle settings but I think it's gonna work fine for me...
