Hi y'all....

I have recently upgraded(?) from a Zoom BFX708 to a Boss GT6B and would appreciate a few tips.

1). I have heard that it is possible to run more than one effect from FX1 and FX2 at a time, is this true... if so, how?

2). I have spent several hours trying to get the synth effects sounding half-decent... any tips?

These issues are exactly why I prefer individual pedals.

1. You need a footswitch. The procedure is in the manual.

2. What are you trying to do with the synths? I have a couple set up to sound like the synth in the intro of Tom Sawyer. If the effect is cutting in and out, that's because it wants to see a stong bass signal. Turn up the bass. Control the volume with the exp pedal.

I am running the Bass (Status) at 'full' already, maybe I'll try boosting the signal with the EQ on the GT6B and then lowering the output with the Patch Volume.... and see if this gives a better 'Synth' sound.

I am not trying to achieve any particular synth sound, just a case of experimenting with possibilities at the moment.... If I find something that I like I'll use it in our set (If appropriate!).

I have also not been impressed with the 'Touch Wah'
(Not wah-ing very much).

Mess with the parameters. I know, it can get overwhelming. But think of all the possibilities. You can even make the touch wah sound like a phaser or a synth.

The parameter it sounds like you need to mess with most is the sensitivity. That controls how the unit percieves you playing a note, and it does take some fiddling. The touch wahs can be decent, but none are really great. Try using some of the presets and just changing the sensitivity for starters. I dunno how to use more than one effect off of FX-1 or 2, but I sure would like to know how...

I think the GT6B is just going to take a lot more time to set up than my old Zoom BFX708 which pretty much worked straight out of the box!

I still haven't figured out how to run more than one of each effect from FX1 or FX2 ?????

im interested in getting a big multi like this one and i have yet to try them out, but how would you all rate this one against the rest?

If you like to tweak to find every feature then you might be a candidate for a GT6B. If you like the accessibility of stomps then you should probably get singles or a ME50B.

I took the time and my pedal settings are safe regardless of where I take my pedal and I never have to twirl knobs between songs. EVER.

T: You need to buy a footswitch and plug it into the footswitch/exp pedal jack (topside). Then you push the "Pedal Assign" button to tell the GT6B that the pedal is there and how you want it to behave (toggle FX 1 or 2 on/off). Easy huh?

I agree with Syciprider...
I am new to effects (other than the usual 'bit of chorus', etc.) and the GT6B seems to need a fair bit of tweaking in order to get it "right".
I certainly would not recommend the Line6 BassPod as an effects unit (although it is strong on the amp modelling side of things, I found the effects limited and weak).

I have finally got a good 'wah' sound out of my GT6B, but am still struggling with the 'synth'.
I am hoping to get a kind of orchestral string sound and also a 'Muse' sound.

... any suggestions?
Or should I buy a dedicated synth pedal?
Is so, which one?

I have one of these things coming in next week and I'm pretty psyched about it.

I use FX sparingly, but when I want it, I want it to be right and sound good. Plus I love variety. I'm not a tweaker by nature, but I've read through the manual now before it's even come in, and I already feel confident about trucking along with it.

I remember reading the BP Mag review of it last year when it came out, and in one of the first paragraphs, they strongly stated that this is NOT for new or newbie FX users. It's a pro unit that requires attention to detail just b/c of how many friggin' things it can do!

I'm excited about the fact that now I can set some amp and cab modeling for church (as I have to go DI only), and then set a few banks for different types of chorus, delay and 'verb.

Then, I can set the next ones for my main band, and hell if I wanted to, could just name the preset for what song I use it on!
How cool is THAT??

I like the ease of use with individual pedals, but I hate that I have to try and remember or write down when I'm tweaking a pedal and find something cool that could be useful for 1 song out of 15 or 20, and then have to try and remember what the original settings were, all on the fly! I usually don't use FX together, so that's not going to hinder me much and if I want to, I'll just get the extra footswitch.

Plus, my pedalboard (including case) has got to be pushing 30lbs. I know it's heavier than my Aggy GS112 which is crazy.
