guess the bass in this sample.

At this point it's pretty amuzing (at least to some) to see how worked up people are getting about it.
I'd say we won't see any post from the OP until the thread dies. Then he'll resurrect it to stir the pot a bit more.

Besides, I nailed it on the first reply. It's a bass... with 2 pickups.

Nope you are all wrong. It's actually a 62 stack knob jazz bass. It sounds like a sunburst one, but i've heard that candy apple red ones can sound like this too sometimes. It depends on whether you are playing it inside or outside. Oh in any case any very important factor... If you are left-handed then this is no jazz bass at all... it's a short scale alembic series II, and I am pretty sure it would have to be either 77 or 78. If you listen closely I think I hear white frteboard leds and no side LEds. Also it sounds like your 17th fret on the D and G string is a little low. You need to get the frets crowned. Either that or the bridge is rusty. I'm sure it's one or the other.

lol, seriously?!

Have you ever even HEARD a candy apple red bass?

That is SURF GREEN tone. God, the newbies around here...

Awhile back, I thought, Wow, this guy must be some kind of donkey to act like this, so before I unsubscribed from this thread, I researched him a bit more to see if maybe there was another explanation.

I visited his myspace pages (which he has curiously now removed the link to from talkbass) and even found out what probably is his address and phone number in New York, and thought about posting it all here to embarrass the guy into an apology. There were also photos which I thought about posting here as well for the same purpose.

I changed my mind though.

Many of us think of talkbass.com as a brotherhood of worldwide friends... friends who have our backs...

Friends who give us advice, friends who call us on dumb things we do, friends who let us benefit from their experience, friends who laugh together, friends who get on each others nerves at times, and friends who have to apologize from time to time.

Where I grew up, there was only 1 other bass player in my town and he moved. I, for one, really appreciate this site and the trouble people make to participate in this community.

We don't need an explanation TomVelsor, but the right thing to do would be to apologize and DO WHAT YOU SAID YOU WOULD DO and end your experiment with some class.

Until then, I would definitely think twice before buying a bass from an ad the OP posted, and I would not take anything he writes in the future seriously.
