guess the bass in this sample.

You do know that it is not if a bass line sounds good or not that makes one bass better then the next, it is playability. I would have to be honest with you and say that through my computer none of these samples sound all that hot and it would make me guess a first act or something cheap. I also know that the fault is with my computer so it could just as easy be a top of the line bass for all the sound would tell. You do seem to have nice chops, too bad my sound is so poor.

This is not a very productive experiment. If it were one worthy of actually trying, you would have recorded multiple basses in the same way... not just one. We have nothing to compare this to in the manner that you have recorded it.

No offense.

and btw, a man who counts his chickens before they hatch is inaccurate, as not all eggs hatch...kind of like how this experiment is horribly inaccurate whatever result it yields.

Well, since the OP has failed to address this very concerning comment, you fail -1.

And since the OP has failed to give the answer thats another fail. - 2

total score -3.

Guess how many fingers I am holding up...

This is stupid. If you were actually recording these clean in a studio environment, or for that matter recording them mic'd after coming off a reasonably common live rig, then maybe there could be some point to all of this other than an inexplicable need to draw attention to yourself.

Playing unknown (to us) basses, through an uncommon signal path, and butchering them into an mp3 format to post ONLINE? I would be suprised if anyone guesses it, and why should they?

For the record, I didn't listen to the clips, nor will I.
:hmm:

Nope you are all wrong. It's actually a 62 stack knob jazz bass. It sounds like a sunburst one, but i've heard that candy apple red ones can sound like this too sometimes. It depends on whether you are playing it inside or outside. Oh in any case any very important factor... If you are left-handed then this is no jazz bass at all... it's a short scale alembic series II, and I am pretty sure it would have to be either 77 or 78. If you listen closely I think I hear white frteboard leds and no side LEds. Also it sounds like your 17th fret on the D and G string is a little low. You need to get the frets crowned. Either that or the bridge is rusty. I'm sure it's one or the other.
