Guitar Center amp rant

at the gc near me, none of the basses are set up, they all have crap strings on the, and there more concerned with selling gk and behrenger then the better things they have.
they had an epifini(sp) 2x12 int he corner with the olv peaveys white the behrengers have the showcase. they actually had some aggies in there tho.
there rediculious, the only bass guy in there is now the maniger and doesnt really spend time ont he floor. there so ass backwards there its not even funny.
when i returned my monster cable one time to get another one, the guy was lik eyea lemme test it out. and i told him it shorts out after a while. so he played it for a second and was like yea im not gunna wait around for this thing and he threw it int he corner and gave me a new one. so the next time i went in to exchange it they were like oh whens the last time you changed it, and i told him and hes like what? that guyes an idiot i just fired him. so i felt better
but by far the worst shop ive ever been into was Toys from the Attic in white plains. there so horrible. i took my guitar int here for a set up and they gave it back to me with more problems then i brought it in with. they used a drywall screw in the floyd rose, need i say more?
the entire b string was unplayable, and the guy was like..you messed with the pickup didnt you? and i was like no i didnt touch anything. and hes like yea..next time dont mess with the pickups(they were rubbing ont he string). i was like yea and the entire first frett is unplayable on any string. so he took it and tried to do a solo on like the 15th frett. im like yea..you suck, now can you actually fix my guitar this time?
so i called there owner and he took care of it. some people are just rediculious

No such issues with tubes.
In my days of repairing tubes, the primary failure mode was rolling off my workbench onto the floor.

I worked on a bunch of shows doing backstage, lighting, etc for my school theater, and the reason we handled the bulbs so carefully was that any residue left on the glass would be heated at the extremely high temperatures on the glass, and although I forget exactly why it was bad, I know it was bad bombin'. My second post was to say that the idiot who explained to me about his "expertise" in valve technology was less than lucid. I was admitting how much of an idiot I was in listening to him! I think my IQ dropped a few points just being in close proximity to him. I think he was thinking of halogen bulbs and he was nowhere near as bright as one.

What miffs me is that I can't check my local GC's store stock online. Other modern retailers with online sales operations can do it easily, for instance Best Buy. I suppose that I could always call them on the phone, but that would violate my rule against asking any salesman a question that requires a factual answer.

I always set an eq flat to try something , then if I like what I hear, I'll play with it and see where it goes.

Right. The envelope of a tungsten halogen lamp has to get extremely hot, in order for the chemical reaction involving the halogen gas to work properly.SherpaKahn said:

I hate guitar center with a f'n passion...but i did get a pristine condition 4 string roscoe for $1,000..im assuming it was a typo or something but i didnt give a sh+t

My complaint concerning guitar center is why they let people with no talent play so loud and so long. Every time I go in there's some dumbass guitar player, simultaneously using every effect know to mankind, playing complete rubbish with the amp turned to max. And generally they do it for hours.

Woa, sounds like guitar center sucks, thats why im glad im irish, wait no cause theres **** all selection over here.Id love a place like gc where i could try out all my gear before buying of the net.
