Guitar Center at it again

I put 100 down on a 200.00 bass that just came in one time. I had to wait a week to take possession to make
sure it wasn't stolen. I came in a week later with the rest of the money to get my bass and they had it hanging on the wall for sale! Fortunately nobody snagged it. I was surprised because it was a mint CV 60's Pbass in sonic blue! I had been waiting to snag one of those and would have been really pissed if they had sold it before I got there!
they hang EVERYTHING on the wall, unless it is fully paid for :/

when somebody purchases something online its not as if theres a star trek transporter that automatically zaps it off the floor. its unfortunate that you were looking at it at the time, but somebody bought and paid for it, and they had to pull it off the floor. grow up. if somebody had been in the store, looked at the bass. set it down to go pay for it and then you started looking at it would you still be complaining that they bought it before you? guess its the world we live in though... somebody doesnt get what they want so everyone must be out to get them.

If they do they shouldn't. That means you put money down in good faith and they can sell it out from under you. Not a good retail practice.
have you ever been in the warehouse? your used bass (without a case of course) is safer hanging on the wall than it is in the "Horror Show" in back.
anything that is unboxed is in extreme jeopardy.

GC is such a crapshoot, depends who's working there that month. Lousy service? Wait a month or two, they will all be gone, replaced by the next crop of fresh faces eager for low pay and no benefits. Welcome to McGuitars. My local GC (Braintree Mass) is ok, literally never seen the same employees twice though.
no difference up here in the north shore danvers, Nashua Portsmouth bass section gone down hill nothing but fire wood

Not once did I mention anything about anyone being out to get me or any variant thereof. Perhaps you should go back to the first post and read carefully and let the words sink in and understand them.

Anyway, I am no over it and moving on

Finished reading thread. Still like GC.

OK, try this one:

A few years ago I bought an Acoustic 2X10 combo from them. On the very first day I got it, I was loading it into the band equipment van and the tolex snagged on a raised screwhead of one of the PA cabinets and tore off a piece about two inches. Bummer, but that was my fault - just sucked that it happened on the first day I got it but I am working player (bass is my job) so such is life.

Anyway, the amp started farting out about a month-and-a-half later (EDIT - the first time it happened was at a job, and i wound up having to patch my bass through my vocal monitor for the rest of the night). I talked to GC about it, who said they couldnt do anything about it because I hadnt purchased their extended warranty. OK ( I get this, as this is their policy, but they made no attempt at my displeasure - just a "nothing we can do about it" and a cold-shoulder. This actually pissed me off, because - regardless of buying their warranty or not - they did nothing to try and make a customer happy. They could have at least provided me with a number to call for Acoustic or make some kind of suggestion what to do...I got none of this)...but, wait, there's more:

So I called Acoustic on my own. They heard my issue, and I further explained that I was a working player that needed a working amp. They asked me when the purchase was, in which I told them. Acoustic said that they will call the GC that I got the amp from, verify purchase date, and tell them to exchange it for a working one. (For the Record: THIS is Customer Service --- I have nothing but HIGH RESPECT and PRAISE for the way Acoustic handled this). There were no conditions or anything involved: They verified my purchase and apologized for the malfunctioning amp

So I bring the amp to the GC where I got it from.....The manager looks my amp over and sees the hole tore into the tolex.... The guy picks up the phone, calls Acoustic and attempts to thwart the arrangements I made directly with Acoustic: He tattle tales about the hole in the tolex ( which absolutely had nothing to do with anything) and asks Acoustic if I had told them about it and should they proceed with the exchange? REALLY? You wouldnt help me witrh a malfunctioning amp - I make arrangements with Acoustic directly and, now, you are going to try and throw me under the bus about a rip in the fukkin tolex that has absolutely nothing to do with anything?

GC can go F* Themselves

I agree with that point, but in my case no one was aware that my bass was sold to me and on hold. When I asked the guy what the bass I bought was doing on the wall he laughed and thought I was joking! I showed him the receipt and they had trouble finding the info on line. The apologized up and down about it! If I hadn't shown up that day my bass could have very well been sold to someone else. A couple other times I ordered used stuff and had it sent to the store for pick up. They sent me an email both times that it had arrived. I show up to pick it up and they spent over an hour both times trying to find it. But I still buy from them because they have some great deals all the time and the return policy they have is outstanding!
