Guitar Center does it again!

If you find a nice bass for $150, do not hesitate, jump on it like a tiger- Confucius

The neck on this thing is incredible!

Probably closer to $50.

Cool score!

Its pretty much established that they pay 50% of what they plan to sell it for and they determine that by using sold listings on eBay. I was in my local the other day while a guy was selling an amp. He had already been to a pawnshop and thought they had lowballed him. GC made him the exact same offer they had. He expected to be paid nearly what the sold listings were so the nice manager at GC simply advised him to put it on craigslist and eBay himself.

I thought from the title this was going to be a GC slam thread. Glad it's not!! I'm not a fanboi or anything, but I've picked up some pretty cool deals at my local GC. Just ignore the salesteen, offer what you are willing to pay, walk away if it doesn't fly.

I've found them pretty reasonable to buy from. I sell here and (mostly, until recently) on eBay.

I had the single humbucker version. Very under appreciated instruments. Mine had a factory 2-band pre amp. When I took the pickguard off to upgrade it, I foun it was actually wired for 3-band but the third pot wasn't used at all. Nice little surprise.

They actually pay around 65% of what they will sell it for and sometimes a tad higher if it's something they like and can sell quick. Current and ex-employers have both shot out the 65% number and I got $750 for something that they listed at $1090. It was a guitar that they routinely sell at too high of a price so what they paid me was closer to what I would have gotten selling it myself after eBay fees and such.

Perhaps they have two tiers, because they were clearly offering him 50%, they even said that percentage to him. Maybe because it wasn't an item they knew they could turn over quickly they didn't want as much money into it.
