Guitar Center dumping Mesa or new models?

Yeah, I'm sure there are exactly as many Carbines as 7 Pros and PF500's out there. Get real.

Anyway, I've ceased to be amused by your completely off-topic and needless/warrantless bashing of Ampeg in a thread that has nothing to do with them, and wouldn't have even been discussed had you not brought it up, so my final comment is:

whatever.

Make all the excuses you want, but there's no denying that there have been ALOT of failed 7Pros and PF500s, multiple revisions of both, customer service denied because of Ampeg's lame warranty, and the lamest thing of all: faulting their customers for having the audacity to turn an amp's knob past 12 o'clock...

FWI, you were the one who went off topic by bringing Ampeg into a thread that had nothing to do with them - sorry if it hurts your feelings getting called out on the BS you tried to peddle regarding Ampeg vs Mesa... You don't have a leg to stand on here, and have resorted to one weaksauce argument after another...

I would bow out if I were you, too...

This thread has gotten ridiculously off topic. We started by talking about why GC (the company I currently work for) and Mesa Boogie (the company who makes the best bass amps I've ever used) are no longer working together. That has been established. Mesa Boogie customer service came on here and confirmed the reason for the split, and made very valid points that I (as a GC employee and a fan of the company) can't argue with and totally understand. I see the people that work at GC...hell I have to train them, I know where all the frustration comes from when people talk about customer service issues...trust me...

The Ampeg/Boogie comparison is just ridiculous, its off topic but its an interesting thing to consider. I've had many conversations with my guitar player comparing Marshall to Ampeg(because he wondered why I switched) when it comes to cheaper products and overseas production and all that. Marshall's new DSL line is all made in Vietnam much like Ampeg's Non Heritage SVT line. Once I got into Mesa amps and made the switch from Ampeg we had a few long talks about gear and I pointed out how much I admired the integrity of a company that never put out a cheap solid state amp that was made in China. And my guitar player agreed. He respects the hell out Mesa as a company, but the only Mesa Amp he can get his sound out of is the Mark V and its still just not quite him. Nothing sounds like a Marshall. Nothing sounds like an Ampeg. And nothing sounds like a Mesa. Different companies, different ideas, different goals, different sounds. His opinion of Marshall is very similar to JimmyM's defense of Ampeg...I get it. As amazing as Mesa amps are (and when I crank my M9 Carbine that is HOW I have fantasized my sound being for years) its not the same as plugging into an SVT. Like I said...different companies, different sound.

I'd like to see this Ampeg vs Mesa thing stop and maybe hear Mesa address some of the previous issues other TBers have brought up, aside from the pitting a small company (mom and pop possibly?) against a very large company (GCish mayhaps?)

Just my thoughts.
yeah, specially the bolded bit.

I don't know if I would just make the assumption that Ampeg is out selling Mesa on this one. Also, after its all said and done, with the way both company's have handled the problems, I would have to say that Mesa will retain its customers, while Ampeg not so much. Just IMO

Excuse me guys, but what part of "My final comment" do you not get? Now it's just trolling. And it's not an assumption. Ampeg has had the highest selling SS and tube bass amps on the market, albeit only for the past 2 years have they had the highest selling SS amp.

So why are you still posting? Oh, I get it, your filling a Mesa thread with ampeg goodness. As far as the original post goes,,,, Mesa has already joined the debate and set the record straight. As far as the china vs American thing goes, I'll pay my hard earned dollars to an American company. What anyone else does is irrelevant to me.

i hate the sound of ampeg solid state amps but i think the svt classic all tube ampeg amp has maybe the best sound out there of any amp i've ever heard.

that just shows you a certain company can have crap products and amazing products at the same time. it's not all 100% great or 100% terrible.

i've had a mesa boogie all tube amp. the 400+. it was a great amp too. it wasn't better than the ampeg nor worse really. they were just different. you could get the same sound out of both though. the mesa just took a little more work since it was more complicated with the eq thing added into the mix. the ampeg you just had knobs and it was easy to get that sound you were looking for. that's why i like the ampeg better. no other reason.

personally i think a gallien-krueger solid state amp sounds better than both a mesa or ampeg solid state amp. if i was going solid state i would go with Gallien-Krueger.

i really wanna try an orange all tube amp. it may be better than all of them. it's super simple. gain, volume, treble, mid, and bass knobs. that's it. awesome sound.

so anyways like i said to my knowledge i've never seen mesa gear sold at GC so this thread is pointless to me. lol

Apparantly, you don't know what "my final comment" means - and as for sales, I'd like to see a cite, instead of believing Ampeg - or their followers - on the matter...

I'd be curious to see the stats on best-selling amps. I've always considered Mesa more a boutique brand and I can't imagine them putting up near the numbers as Ampeg. Regardless, it means nothing as to which is a better product/company. Bud Light is probably the best selling beer in the US and I wouldn't feed that swill to my dog. :spit:

I love threads like these because fact always trumps bias. If Mesa can yank their stuff from GC and maintain competitive pricing, more power to them. If I ever took the leap from GK, it would be a Mesa from Sweetwater. It seems so many companies these days are shadows of their former selves. I used to love Ampeg, but they lost me after St.Louis music. It seems like they really took the low road in regards to pricing and warranties and in some cases, quality. I feel like they priced out a whole segment of their demographic while alienating the same people further with shoddily built amps and abysmal customer support.

If Mesa pulling out of GC means a consistent product with fair pricing for the customer, then great. Hopefully they don't follow the Ampeg model in doing so.

Yeah, LOUD/Ampeg sending out new amps to people with problems without waiting to get the old amps back is really abysmal CS, isn't it? And using real plywood instead of OSB in their cabs like SLM did is really shoddy construction, right?

Seriously now...if you're going to make stuff up, at least do a little homework and make it slightly believable.

What am I making up? I'll refer to the PF500 and SVT7, as has been already but seems to be conveniently ignored by yourself every time it's referenced. I don't have to make anything up basing my statements from personal experience, like the BA115 combo I had that failed twice under warranty and took 4 months for Ampeg to get around to the third time it failed...only to be told I was out of luck and would need to pay the labor cost and charged for 4 screws (????) that they left rolling around inside the chassis after the second "repair". Should I leave out the part where their rep told me I should use a different cab "for better results" because the 410 HLF they advertised in a package deal with the B2RE through MF kept farting out if I used the MASTER past 9?

I've done all the homework I need to with Ampeg. Pumping out garbage is one thing, but claiming it to be user error when it fails to flake on a warranty claim is another.
