It took me FOREVER to figure out I had numbness in my fingers. I didn't realize there was anything wrong until I was trying to start IVs and people were talking about feeling the thrill. I was like it's not THAT big a deal what are you all talking about. They said it was the feel of the blood rushing through the vessels. I never felt it once, and kind of sucked at starting IVs. Couldn't play barre chords worth a poopie either. Wasn't until I was in my 40s that I realized what was going on and looked into neuropathy and have reversed as much as I could at this point. No wonder guitar was horrible for me, I couldn't make my fingertips work in that tiny space and I couldn't really feel what was going on until it hurt too much and then I didn't want to play. Bass is so dfferent. The strings don't automatically hurt my fingers, I can kind of feel the vibration of the instrument which is really nice, I can get my fingers to work in the spaces even up the neck as far as can get my hand.Let’s see, I’ve started archery, gave it all away. Lacrosse, gave it away. Joined a climbing gym and never climbed once there. Have a ton of photography gear that sits unused. I’m on my fourth attempt at doing CrossFit. But I stuck with bass. Oh, I did initially start on guitar and switched to bass when I couldn’t play barre chords.
Now know why bass players are staring out into space, when you get into the groove you just kind of disappear into it. It's fun
