Guitar players corner!

Not mine--and what not to do...

Oof! Even a Squier doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment :crying:

Hi! I've got a story to tell.

The year is 2007, I was in middle school and I want to be a rock star, so my parent bought me a classical Yamaha guitar. Never bound with it (it has a wide neck) so gave it to my younger brother. A year later, I've got an acoustic Brunswick. Like it, play it on my graduation, but an accident happen few months later, the neck break. Never bother to play any guitar or musical instruments again after that. Until I graduate from high school and my grandpa gave me a cheap Jazz bass copy. But I'm not playing it until 2 years later. Then, I like my classmate and she love bass player, suddenly I remember I have a bass and teach myself how to play it, even buy an acoustic bass to learn without amp. After that I save money to buy Fender Precision Sting Signature, but after a year or two can't bound with it so sell it and buy Sire V7 (oh that cheap Jazz bass already long gone). A year later, my old man gave me a MIJ Fender Precision, but again, never bound with it and sell it. Fast forward to 2020, COVID-19 strikes, have nothing to do at home. I think, it's time to revisit guitar, to learning something new. My younger brother lend me his 70s Alvarez acoustic, but I don't like the V-shape neck. With good experience with Sire, I order their acoustic guitar. After that, I play less and less bass, I even got a Squier Vintage Modified Mustang for $230. Then I'm gassing for an Epiphone Thunderbird, I really love the neck of Gibson/Epiphone instrument, so I'm planning to purchase an SG. But, I found a Gibson Les Paul Special Tribute for stupid deal, my Squier + $375, so I pull the trigger. After that I play guitar more than bass, and my band's break up. With many things happen, I don't think I wanna be in a band anymore, so I want to play as a solo musician, singing with guitar only. That's when I sold my Sire. Actually I'm eyeing an Epiphone Century (because I like James Bay a lot) but again, I found a stupid deal again on Epiphone Casino ($350). So this is my collection now (6 strings only)

I wrote almost my songs on my acoustic, but nowadays I play Casino most (because I can play it unplugged and it's easier to play). I've got list of Overdrive (J.Rockett Archer) and Fuzz (Teisco Fuzz) for my next purchase. After that, maybe a 12 strings Epiphone.

I play guitar sparingly, never really developed the liking for it. My first guitar is the strat on the right (TI Jazz Flats of course) got it about two years ago for cheap on GC. Then I recently got the left one, an MJT body and took a while to find a used Fender AM performer neck for it. Plays really nice, still needs a shielding job but I am too lazy right now.

That strat on the right, looks wrong! Did they actually make one like that or is it a converted Lefty?

It's the Jimi Hendrix model (plot twist, it doesn't make you sound like him!). When I got it from GC I thought the same too, this might be a parts guitar or something. But it's an actual model from Fender.

Tell me more about that natural Strat top middle! HH?

I made the body from ash and a couple of strips of walnut, and put on an MIM neck, Lace Alumitone pickups, and a Schaller bridge (I think it's a schaller). Controls are inset into the side.

I had a build thread on another forum, but at the time, I was using a picture hosting site which has since gone south, so it's pretty useless. I like the guitar though :P

Well it’s super cool. I like Strat bodies but never get along with tremolo or the 3 pickup layout, always interested in minimalistic approaches to the Strat. And it looks great too!
