Guitar players corner!

Well, I’m not really a guitar player, but since I don’t have a band at this time I thought id buy a guitar that I could sing along to. Ups delivered this today :

First impression: it smells completely different than any other ric I’ve had. Other than that , it’s absolutely gorgeous. It has the perfect amount of red . Interestingly , it didn’t really feel any different than a six string.

I need more music in my life , so this might be the perfect way to get it.

It is gorgeous, indeed. To me it looks just like the George Harrison model that a friend of mine ordered, and paid for(!), 6 or 7 years before receiving it back in the '90s!!! He insisted I play it once, and you're right, it feels like a 6-string! Even the strings were so low and close together it played like a 6-string!! A beautiful and sweet sounding instrument. It would certainly make me sing. Enjoy. :thumbsup:

As a side note , the fretboard IS glossy. I thought ric had stopped putting a finish on fretboards last year. My guitar was made in august 2022, so they probably started putting the finish again ?

I come to you guys, this evening, supplicant. Part of this post, I'll be outing myself.

SWMBO and I have the entire DVD set of "How I Met Your Mother". We were watching it the other night and we delved into the "Special Features" on one of the discs.

Not only do I play guitar and bass, but I collect them (especially "oddballs").

So we're watching this Robin Sparkles video and I saw a guitar I am gassing for.

I'm pretty good at interwebz research and I've exhausted that avenue so, I hoping someone here can help me out.

The last one is the best identifier I can give you. It's a reverse headstock, crescent half-moon shape.

Any ideas?

So after 12 months of shopping (and procrastinating) I finally bought myself a new flattop acoustic guitar. First time I've owned one since 1979!
It's a Yamaha A3MVN

The funny thing is, I wasn't necessarily looking for an acoustic guitar with a pickup; I just wanted something for playing around the house and maybe doing some recording with. So I didn't really pay attention to whether or not any of the guitars I tried out had onboard electronics, just shopped for the instrument with the best acoustic sound I could find. Turns out this awesome sounding acoustic guitar has an onboard pickup and some swanky electronics...which I barely noticed in the shop, and still haven't even bothered plugging in to listen to.

But I started reading up on the "SRT" electronics that Yamaha puts in this guitar, and it seems like it's pretty crazy. Any of youze guyze familar with this "SRT" system? In addition to the more-or-less standard piezo pickup with Volume, Bass, & Treble controls, it has some kind of microphone emulation thing going on, and you can blend this mic sound with the pickup sound, as well as select between two different microphone models (one based on a Royer R-122 ribbon, the other based on a Neumann KM-69 condenser).

I still can't figure out whether there's an actual microphone inside this thing, or if the piezo pickup signal is just getting routed through a mic modeller (probably the latter) but I'm starting to think I may get a whole lot more use out of this axe if I do pay attention to and start exploiting the onboard electronics. Guess I oughtta plug it in and see how useful that all is.

Meanwhile, wow, I'd forgotten how satisfying it is to play a really nice sounding flattop!
