guitar to bass project (octave down pedal)

BUDGET - $100 used

so i’m trying my first modding project and i had the idea to convert this crappy (like $50 on craigslist or smth) offbrand guitar into a bass
i would keep the body and neck, but change the bridge to a 4-string and get a new nut (original one was broken anyway) and file it for 4 strings (i would gut the top 2 strings)

anyway i was hoping i could get ideas for an octave down pedal that would make the guitar sound like a bass (i will probably be using a lot of distortion so it probably doesn’t make too much of a difference) so i could easily switch from bass range to guitar
any feedback or pedal recommendations would be very helpful

I don't understand the point
i’m really bored and i have 0 use for the guitar (and i want to get into modding)
also the reason for removing the top strings is because my hands are literally too big to press down only 1 string on there so i have to space them out lol

also i plan on doing solos in my band (only me and the rhythm guitarist know how to improv) on a few songs so it would be nice to just have a button to switch between guitar and bass
