Höfner Galaxie Bass?

My bass has the guitar tuners (they actually look like classical guitar tuners). That kind of scared me when I bought it, but I haven't had any real issue with tuning to this day. It says in tune for the whole gig or practice hour. The next day you would problably need to tune again, which for me is completely normal.
Bear in mind that I'm from Brazil and the gear here is very expensive. A American Special Fender Jazz goes for R$ 4.000 (US $2000), so most professional players use stuff that's considered semi-pro in Europe and in the USA. My experience with decent instruments is very limited, mostly my Korean first run Epiphone Jack Casady, that I love. On the other hand I have played chinese crap that's way worst than anything that's sold in the US. So I may not know much about high quality stuff, but I know a ****** bass when I see one

I'll try to fix the pickup in pickguard issue and then post my conclusions here, but that aside I think the Galaxie is a great buy.

I donated a CT long scale to one of our High School music progams. The instructor over there loves the bass. Great tone range, easy to play, good fit and feel and takes a beating. Since he has 25 students and they all get to take turns on the bass, the bass has held up well in it's first year there.

Ultimately, I'll buy a Höffy Galaxie (mint blue) AND a HCT 185 (sunburst!)...
Of course, I'm also GASing for a Presonus mixer board now...so unless I win the lottery anytime soon, I'll just have to be patient!

Today I ordered the Höfner Galaxie in Mint Blue today from 8th Street Music (8thstreet.com) as they have a 12% off special going now!
I also contacted my luthier to order a set of TI Jazz Flat 32's....stay tuned!

My bad yeah I have the 185 something completely different I was way off baseI may have to take a look at that Galaxy

UPDATE:
Received my mint blue Höfner Galaxie bass last week.
Initial Impression:
-Dig the color combo...so ugly that it's cool
-It does indeed have the Icon / Ignition pups (meh)
-Well-balanced and the round-wound strings weren't too bad
-Frets were in dire need of a shaving
-Really nice case!
Took it to my luthier, had him put TI Jazz flat 32's on her and file down the frets. He commented on how cool it looked and how straight the neck was for the price. While I thought that I'd be making excuses for it at the shop, everybody there who saw it really thought it was a cool little bass!
I teach, and keep it in my classroom to use to practice during my lunch periods (when I have time), and I gotta say...it is totally fun to play!

I have one right here, Hofner Galaxie short scale re-issue, picked it up on a whim, sounds huge for the size of it, plays nice, could use a bit of fret work, and an intonation set up, but it's pretty cool. I think I will flip it though, and get something a little more standard size, as I'm 6'5, and it looks a little small on me.
