Double Bass H clamp from Bob Gollihur

Just got one last week myself from a dealer in the UK - excellent piece of equipment. I had tried micing in a live situation before with poor results due to low volume and feedback etc., but this clamp allows *really* close micing and therefore more volume without feeding back.

Using a combination of this and a pickup, and being able to control the proportion of each that goes to monitors and front of house independently, is a winner I think.

Vunz was the first to post about the H-clamp here on TB I believe, then flatback. I got one soon after that. So I just wanted to give them credit for turning us on to this and thank them both again.

The customer service I've received from Robert at ExplorAudio has been outstanding too. Really cares about his products and his customers IMO.

Just got mine, very well made, and it really works. I use it with a Sennheiser e906 mic that sounds best when placed under the fingerboard.

+1 It's always good to remind us of something that works well and doesn't cost a lot either. Hopefully, Bob Heil is still making progress with the production run the Stubby version of the PR 40.

Enjoyed your web site.

I can feel another attack of GAS coming on, so who was the UK dealer and what mic do you use. I have a Clarus that will take two channels nicely.

I bought it from Canford;

So far I've used an SM58 and an older audio-technica at818. Both sound pretty good although I am aware it is possible to do much better with superior mics. The at818 is handy as it has an on/off switch I can use when putting the bass down or tuning.

I got my H-clamp a few months back after reading about it here on TB. It's a great tool. Much thanks to the fellas that started putting the word out on this thing. I like being able to change the position of the mic on the bass to fit the sound of the room we're playing in.... I just use it with a SM58.
