I wanted to take the time to thank every one who posted and especially to those who offered help via PM. I'm already a year (close to it) into it. I don't know what I need. lol


Visitors: Not sure but I'll keep posting. I can take visitors any time but, unfortunately insurance predicts where I will be next. let me know when and I'll produce an address. I don’t want to send you guys off to a place I use to reside. :eek:

Now, Im still in Coventry.
I'm actually in decent shape. Just cant walk among a couple other things. I should be there for a while.

More gruesome facts: This all happened on my birthday! I was getting ready for my birthday when I gotten real dizzy and fell over. Luck would have it that my phone was near by,. I called 911 and then my family. I wasn’t on the phone long with 911 when I started feeling the symptoms. I crawled on hands and knee to where ever I was going. Getting up would mean I would fall over again. I remember the ride to the hospital and the ride to RI Hospital but not much after that. Good thing! There I laid in ICU in a coma for the next two months.

Not sure but I think everybody has different symptoms.

I had a stroke three months ago, didnt go into a coma but it left Me with right side paralysis and my speech was gone but luckily i was OK mentally and my speech is better all the time.

My leg is improving and i can walk with a stick.Unfortunately i still have no movement in the right wrist and cant extend my fingers at all, a little frustrating for a bass player. However I consider myself lucky and its early days yet.

I had just bought a Streamliner 900 a couple of days before the stroke so now im looking forward to trying it out properly! Actually i play a little by 'hammering on' , its better than nothing!

Anyway I wish you good luck with your recovery.

I am sorry to hear about you're misfortune. I have something that might help. A few years back, at the bar I work, we had a man who would sit in with most of the jazz and blues bands that would play. An old black man from Louisiana who could make you dance and cry with his saxophone. The best saxophone player I have ever heard. He had told us very few that in his late 50s he had a stroke. Lost all of his musical knowledge and his ability to play. Over the next 30 years he re-taught himself how to play and understand music. He started with his ambeture and breathing then moved on to his hands. He told us that music had saved his life. He told us that picking up his horn again was the sole contributer of his recovery to regain the means of a normal life. I hope my telling of this story helps your mind. I hope you get better.

keep at it Flanker, positive attitude goes a long way in this...i have not suffered a stroke, but i've witnessed my little brother, mother, and our young son suffer several...the inspiration i've drawn from seeing a 3-year old boy fight with all of his heart and overcome many deficits from major strokes is not something i can even put into words

i sincerely admire you :cool:

Flanker, we have a lot in common with our stroke. All I can say is "little steps". Nothing happens over night. Hang in there and thanks again for the good wishes. Oh yeah, listen to ()smoke().

One thing I should post. How it all happened.
I don't say this to be scary or to give advise to anybody. It's only fact and not some epidemic.

I did my stroke by moving equipment. I was coming out of a bulkhead of an old house with an extra fifty pounds. The first step was high, much higher than usual and I could not see much. I misjudged this step and had neck pain for a week. Just thought I threw something out. What I did was tear an artery or vain in the back of my head. Starving the brain of blood which was my stroke.

It's still an ongoing thing for me and I hope to go home soon. I'm practicing with a short scale bass. (thank God for that Rob Allen purchase years ago) and I feel better. All I can say is little steps.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.

I am a beiiever in positive thoughts, and i know there are people much worse off than me so i am always grateful.

I was an airline pilot. So much for the medicals ! Take care of yourselves ,we take so much for granted.

Wow-practicing with a short scale bass! That says tremendous improvement!! Congratulations and keep it going! It is amazing what little thing can make all the difference and lead someone back sometimes. True to TB form for you---it is a bass! Think only of the future now and keep doing what you are doing. That is the warrior's path and you are definitely on it.
