And wandered in here in the apparently mistaken belief of finding who else is excited with fewer than 100 days to go to Halloween 
This one is just a direct sequel to "Halloween". Basically, per this movie, Everything after the first film never happened. And they get rid of that stupid "She his long lost sister" crap.
I'm actually hopeful for this one because John Carpenter is involved (though not directing) and the aforementioned dropping of every asinine thing added in later films.
God knows, it only has to be better than the Rob Zombie abominations to be good. That is a low bar..
Neat, I'll watch it. My first thought without even playing the trailer is - why is he still wearing the same mask and mechanic outfit he either stole or killed to obtain on the fly after escaping the asylum, the point where it looks like it's quite weathered? Wait, why did the mask grow wrinkles?

I'm not going to lie I'm a little disappointed
I couldn't stand them. The stupid back story and his constant shoving Sherry Moon-Zombie in everything he does.
As soon as it was announce he was doing the remake, I said "He's going to make Laurie in to some kind of trailer trash and probably shove Sherry moon Zombie as her mother."
I was close, Michael was the trailer trash but Sherry was technically Laurie's mother as well. Because he stuck with that stupid story line.
The backstory really killed it for me. It was so much scarier with him being just a kid from a very normal family that just snaps and goes on occasional killing rampages for no reason.
Knew I couldn't stay away. I completely agree with your last point. Sheri on the other hand. I like Sheri a lot.

I'm really looking forward to this. I've been a huge Halloween fan since I was a kid when I saw Halloween 4 when I was like 8 years old and it totally scared the hell outta me.
Halloween 1 was my favourite and I'm glad they're ruling out all of the other ones. In Halloween 1, Michael was just pure evil. He liked toying with his victims and he just killed for the sake of it.
I do like all of the homages to the other films though.
Also, regarding the Zombie films, I did like the theatrical version of the first one (not the director's cut where Michael escapes when a guard decides to rape a female prisoner in Michael's cell, that was more disturbing than it was stupid and it was very stupid). I was not a fan of the second one at all though. All of that white horse crap was really ridiculous to me. I did like that he threw Danielle Harris in there as Annie though.

And here I thought this thread was about going down to Slim's Last Chance on First Avenue South and checking out the young women who seem to think that a Halloween costume is makeup and not a whole lot else. And loud rockabilly. As an officially creepy old guy, but mostly old, it's usually too loud. Oh, well. What were we talking about?
