Happy birthday Mr. Squire! He was a great influence as a young bassist. He really made me want to buy a Ric, turn up the treble, and use a pick!![]()
Same here. I was hooked from "Roundabout" back in the early 70's and spent a big part of 1976 shedding on "Close to the Edge" (still my favorite Yes album) and "Tales from Topographic Oceans" while I was in college. Man, the reptilian grunt of his bass just completely sucked me in.
Never had anyone to play any of their songs with. Never played with a pick nor got around to getting a Ric. Then again, I never bought a cape either
The classic lineup for me was Chris Squire, Bill frickin' Bruford, Steve Howe, RIck Wakeman and Jon Anderson. Amazing band, even in a time of amazing bands.
