Today would have been Phillip Kubicki's 70th Birthday. Phil and his basses were so important to me and my career...Happy Birthday Phil!!
I will be attending a memorial observation for Phil tomorrow, haven't played old # 0045 in years but we are getting reacquainted

Happy birthday, Phil. I still have my '89 Kubicki. Great bass - an innovative design that paved the way for other innovators like Sheldon Dingwall.

Watching John Taylor smacking his Factor around made me want to do more than just roots and 8th notes. Way cool basses. He will be missed.

I've owned about 20 basses. Of those, the X-factor is the one that I wish I had not sold. It has been 10 yrs and I still wish I hadn't sold that bass!

  8. My best to one of the innovators of modern bass design. Phil Kubicki.

And thanks for starting this thread Stu... Very appropriate.

My '87 Kubicki Ex Factor is, without doubt, the finest-playing bass I have ever owned or tried.

    Phil is missed.

Here is a link to some images from the Memorial for Phil Kubicki including the program that was created. What a beautiful day to honor this wonderful man. I got to mingle with lots of his family and close friends. It was an honor to be there.

Thanks for posting this Stu. Phil and I shared a zodiac sign and while I am a few years younger we celebrated our birthdays in the same week. I am sorry to have missed the remembrance.
