I was at a social event last night aimed at younger entrepreneurial types(only to see an ensemble of live musicians, friends, scheduled for the end of the evening), and the DJ on earlier was spinning “Genius Of Love”. While it’s kind of weird that this has had more renown to the gen pop than her work with the Heads, at least it still has a high profile all these years/decades.

Tangential Digression: I was in a hipster coffee shop (not my usual hangout, I swear!) the other night, and at some point their playlist included a presumably recent cover of "This Must Be The Place" the album closer from Talking Heads' Speaking In Tongues album.

This cover version was absolutely awful! Had none of the charm, tenderness, lack-of-guile, or naiveté of the original. But it was still nice to hear a reminder that Talking Heads made an indelible mark on the industry.

I was in a swanky restaurant in Mexico City on Monday eve-the playlist was all 70s/80s and multiple Heads tunes popped up. Timeless. I loved it.

I mean, I was never crazy about them, but usually like whatever I heard whenever I encountered them back in the day.

No, it wasn't that Arcade Fire cover (which, btw, I also find awful; I barely lasted 60 seconds), the one I heard had a young girl singing in a slightly flat, disaffected voice. And no steel drums.
