Double Bass Hard (Flight) Cases, Chinese anyone?

I'm getting set for a Europe tour this summer and I'm looking at hard cases. I was going to rent one, but it seems there are a couple of inexpensive Chinese-made hard cases on Ebay. They're going for just under $900 including shipping.

Does anyone have any experience with these cases? Are decent? Will they protect an instrument well?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hey Josh -

did you check the classifieds here? I remember seeing a used Kolstein trunk for less than half of retail, and thought it might have been here. I forgot you had asked about trunks or I would have emailed you think link...

I've not heard or read anything about the Chinese-made trunks, but I'd certainly be hesitant to use one unless I heard positive experiences from someone else. I've heard too many stories of opening trunks to discover broken necks.

Hope someone replies with first-hand experiences.
