Hard to believe... (scratchy pots)

Oh and by the way, "The Elements" is an opamp based distortion/overdrive. I can only think of one possible way to make a volume-pot in an opamp effect, that shifts a DC signal - and that's just bad design then.

Oh and on another note, I think i saw schematics for a "no crackle SHO" too.

Pots should not be scratchy. If it's due to dirt, try turning the pot fully back and fourth a couble of times, that can sometimes clear the dust.

The ol' turn her until it's fixed method doesn't work. Consistent fuzz at 2 o'clock and between 1 and 4.

It's funny, I have 2 Elements and never noticed it before. I went upstairs to check and sure enough, mine is scratchy too. Do you have the white one? I noticed it more on the white one then the steam punk one. Personally it doesn't bother me, the gain knob on my Rusty Box does it too, but I can see how that could be off putting for some...

Yeah, I have a white one. I'm just trying to figure out if I should swap it out while I can still return it. I really really like this box. So much fun with an expression pedal. Sounds absolutely amazing. It just seems right out of the gate that the V pot should be quiet. Maybe I'm too picky... That's kinda why I started this thread. Makes me think though that there won't be a difference if I swap them out based on your boxes.

I dunno man. It's obviously up to you but, like I said, it bothers ME so little that I didn't even realize it did it. I don't move the volume knob much at all though. For me, both the Rusty and the Elements are so good that I don't care about it. If that's part of what makes them great then I'm fine with it. :)

I can say that the Steam Punk version doesn't seem to have it. He may have made a slight change to the new white one. If it's really important I can check it again to be sure though and maybe you can find one of those.

My guess seeing as how it's an opamp based circuit is that maybe the volume comes after an opamp without a coupling capacitor???

dr scientist pedals seem so well designed that this is somewhat of a mystery!
