Anyone modded the electronics of a Harley Benton B-450/550/650, if so how please, and what's the result like? I bought a 650 to try 6 string bass. It's ridiculous value for the price, especially as this one's the famous Thomann B-stock grade. I suspect that cost reduction's for either/both of a) a few dust specks in the finish (no problem) and b) I think it's heavier than spec (hmm...).
The wood bits of this are great for the money, the metal bits are OK, but I mistrust the electrics (I think they're the same on all 3):
Knob 1) volume/push-pull for active/passive.
Knob 2) pickup balance
Knob 3) bass boost/cut
Knob 4) Treble boost/cut, tone control in passive mode (?)
A past post here suggested it has passive pickups but an active volume and tone unit, with pics of 4 conductor p/ups (dunno if my new no-names are the same). The pots are all very easy to shift accidentally, with 'just there' centre detents on 2,3, and 4. So, are there any cheap mods that make a big difference? Thanks, Max
