i have finally received mine!
i bought it barely used with a few upgrades from a seller in the UK for a very decent price.
the bass sounds great, the tonal variety is much more than i expected. i was able to set it up for low action which without problem. it is currently strung with flats but i will switch to rounds at some point just to hear what it sounds like. the neck feels and looks perfect, no rough fret ends.
the only issue i had was the electronics cover was not fitted straight but that got fixed in 3 minutes. other than that it is an incredible bass for the money.

Was it the one with the Seymour Duncan Bassline and the Wilkinson tuners ?
Not that it matters, just glad to hear you have one and are happy with it. There's a good chance there'll be another Harley Benton coming
my way end of the month, after seeing how good the JB-75 and BZ-4000 NT are I've no concerns getting more HB's.

spot on, got it from thunderbird over at basschat.
my buddy who usually brings gear for me from germany works for an airline but they had changed their layover to zazibar so i had to find a reasonably priced freight company.
found one in the UK and then got lucky in the classified!
it was worth the wait though!

I've dealt with Paul myself, good guy. In fact I was just working on something from him today.
Got a Peavey Zodiac DE body from him so I was planning on swapping the neck from my Zodiac EX.
Hasn't quite worked out so easy, was no problem reshaping the headstock on a P bass copy to the
Peavey shape and attaching it to the EX but the EX neck to DE body needs some playing with.
I'll get there in the end.

Well, I suppose SX sells its stuff in Europe, but I'll be damned if I can figure out that Spanish SX website. I couldn't even find the prices for any of the items:

Prices seem higher than at Thomann.ie, so I'd interested if anyone had comments regarding SX quality versus Thomann.

I'm afraid I've never played an SX so can't help there.
The Thomann prices are cheaper because they deal direct with the factories,no middleman.
SX will order from China then supply Waltons hence the price hike. How it works with Rondo
is anyones guess.
The Douglas Pisces and the Benton PB-50 are so close they must have a connection.The headstock difference is due to Rondo being told
they were looking too close to Fender so changed it.I know Thomann work closely with the factories with regards to what models they
want and QC.Duff ones still get through but with the 30 day return policy and 3 year warranty with Thomann you're pretty well covered.
But SX is a far better known brand so you don't have the " Who made your Bass " questions.When you get to Ireland you're in a great position
you can order from Thomann then when it arrives go to Waltons and try out the SX too same week. Prefer the SX easy call Thomann,get the prepaid
label,box it back up and hand in to the post office.
Another budget but well recommended brand is Jack & Danny. More expensive at twice the HB prices but another option when you get to Europe.

Took another look at the Douglas Pisces at Rondomusic.com -- yeah, the resemblance to the Thomann PB50, other than the headstock, is pretty strong, all right. Hard to believe it's not the same instrument, from the same factory.
Sorry to bump an old thread, i have placed an order for a harley benton pb-50 and it says in the description that it comes with daddario strings gauge 100-45 , was wondering whether they are nickel or stainless strings ?

Thanks, i was eyeing up the pb-50 and the price was too good to pass up, i was figuring i will string it with flats, now i know it is nickels i have looked up the tension and chromes are pretty close in tension to the nickels which is good knowing i can put some chromes on and (hopefully) only need to do a minor tweak to the truss rod. Its good to hear you like the pb-50, how is the sound of the single Coil pickup vs the split coil p pickups?@shoulderpet

Sound wise it's different than a standard P bass.One thing, any single coil the bass will hum if you don't ground by touching the strings. Like yourself I prefer flats and think Chromes are a great idea that will beef up the sound no end.The Wilkinson is a surprisingly good pickup. SubDude67 who posted earlier in this thread bought his PB-50 already modded with a Seymour Duncan SCPB-2 in it,he wanted to hear it with the Wilkinson and I had a spare so off to Kenya it went. There's the result

Good to hear the comparison, i actually like the wilkinson better out of the two, it does seem to be a nice sounding pickup
