I'm not a rider, and have never paid much attention to motorcycles. Lately, however, they've been intriguing me. Must be a full-fledged mid life crisis in the making.

I spent my lunch hour yesterday at the local Harley Davidson dealer - big mistake. I may have to knock off a 7-11 or two for the cost of a Fat Boy.

Just what I need, another hobby. Any hog riders here?

Not me, but my Dad is the proud owner of a heavily customised Sportster 833 (The smallest Harley). :)

Sweet bike, '82! If I had any sense, I'd be looking at 883s... I particularly like the XL883L.

  5. My dad is , but he wont let me touch his baby. And that goes for his 74 stingray too.

As an ex-Hog rider (still recovering from a divorce) let me tell you that once you get bit by the motorcycle bug there aint no going back!

I had a 1999 Road King Classic. My God I loved that bike! Very dependable, plenty of power, very comfortable ride and looked good!

Here's a pick of the bike on a road trip coming back from Boise last year.

I am hoping by next year I can get another bike. Not necessarily a Harley but maybe.

Always remember, it's not WHAT you ride it's THAT you ride!

    :D

Oh man...have you ever ridden one?

It's like gliding on a magic carpet!

And the Road King Classic's are NOT geezer! :spit:

Ah...but then you did say Road King, not the Road King Classic!

    :D

Anybody know what the difference is between a Harley and a Hoover vaccuum cleaner?

The position of the dirtbag. :D

Ridden a Geezer Glide? Are you kidding? I'm 46 years old and I can't wait to get one. I love those things.

    Q. Whats the difference between a biker and a pig?

    A. Pigs won't stay up all night trying to get into a bikers pants.

    Q. Whats the difference between a Catfish and a biker?

    A. One is all slimy, has whiskers and smells bad...the other is a fish.

That Catfish joke has been around forever and is one of the standard stage jokes from my last band. It works with everything

    Currently it's Catfish/ Iraqi woman.....
    It was Catfish/ Afgani Woman....
Then it was Catfish/ Bin Ladden....
    Catfish/ Saddam....
Catfish/ That guy at work who annoys you...
There was a time it was Catfish/ French woman

    I love that joke

No offense to: Iraqi women, Afgani women, French woman or that guy at work intended....

I'm not particularly fond of Harleys personally. I'm a Kawasaki guy myself.

My personal Kawasaki looks nothing like that, but isn't that pretty?

    Here's another beauty from Kawasaki:

    HeavyDuty,

You need to go to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation website. Find your local course and enroll in the Basic RiderCourse. Do it now, because sometimes the wait times are many months.

    I totally agree.

I took the course. The same day I passed it I recieved my certificate. On the very next business day I took it to my local DMV, paid the fee and they handed me my license. No test of any kind since I passed the course.

Plus you get a discount on your insurance for taking the course.

Even if you know how to ride it is an excellent course. I have been riding dirt bikes since I was a kid and by taking this course I learned a few things about street riding that really saved my hiney once or twice!

    :D

We're lucky here in IL - the state offers free courses through the state college extentions. I'm also considering doing the Rider's Edge program through H-D.

I don't see myself buying a bike anytime soon, so there's no rush...
