Double Bass 'harmless prank'

Some of my friends took and hid my bass as a 'harmless prank.' it didn't turn out as harmless as they would have thought and they ended up cracking my tailpiece. They are responsible for paying and i was wondering what a nice tailpiece for the actual thing plus the cost of installing it as well would be. Thanks!

Let the luthier inspect it where you get your new tailpiece. Prices can be very different and you can only get what the same kind of tailpiece costs plus the inspection and repair cost (and driving).
You might get a slightly better one if the same kind is not available, for something better you need to pay the difference yourself. Your luthier will write an invoice that reflects that.
The parents will not like the amount they have to pay, but learn that way to keep their children under better control.

The cost is going to depend on where you are and who is available to do the work.

On the surface (especially to a non-bassist) it seems like a simple task: just put the new part on. In reality it takes some knowledge and skills to do it correctly. There's the cost of the actual tailpiece but it may also need some work to fit to your bass, there's the tail piece cord/cable which will probably need adjustment to get the correct afterlengths, possibly a sound post adjustment if the top lost tension and it shifted, and the restringing. All of this takes time, especially the afterlength and soundpost adjustments, which costs money for the specialized skilled labor.

It's a good thing these friends have some paid gigs coming to cover the cost.
