I’m having an inordinately strong response to this. Are you a music teacher who works with high school kids? Now I feel like I have to have a talk with my seven year old about how much trouble he will be in if he messes with dad’s bass.

I would speak with all parents. Make sure they know what happened. Make sure they know they are responsible for whatever the full cost is, including traveling expenses, and rental of another bass while you wait for the repairs.

I would imagine your bass shop can do the swap while you wait, no big deal. If you don't have a shop relationship yet, you can find a shop near you at these listings, and google:

Locate a Shen dealer near you.
There are also shops around that aren't on either listing, you may find them by posting your location here on the forum.
