Also, regarding the upcoming gigs, I think if the bass can't be repaired in time and you can't play, you should still get paid. It's not your fault they're idiots.

I’m having an inordinately strong response to this. Are you a music teacher who works with high school kids? Now I feel like I have to have a talk with my seven year old about how much trouble he will be in if he messes with dad’s bass.I was also not supervising this, they took my bass when I was getting my mic on (all this took place before I had to go on stage and play with these people)
