Hartke Bass Attack 2!

Has anybody seen this yet? Even though I now use a Zoom B3 for everything I used to own the original Bass Attack pedal and it truly was an awesome piece of gear - especially for the money. It looks like they addressed the issue that plagued the original which is a separate volume control for the "Shape" knob. The Hartke pedal is one of those "magic fairy dust" effects.

It certainly looks interesting over the Vxl. When I played thru one did not care for the mid scoop baked in the pedal.

I bought it when the EQ section on my amp stopped working and I thought there was something major wrong with it so the Hartke seemed like a good low cost option. Little did I know that all my amp needed was a good cleaning of the potentiometers with contact cleaner! LOL

I thought the VXL sounded fantastic and it played very well with other pedals also. I used it mainly to switch between bright and dull tones. The Shape function was totally useless to me as it was a huge volume boost too but with the separate volume it should now be very cool and add a great third option in there. But like I said the B3 has completely invalidated it anyway.

Agreed the B3 is pretty hard to beat, looks like my touring setup will be a B3 with expression pedal for efx into an MS60b for amp sound into a passive DI powered by a rechargeable battery pack.

Really dig that Brian May bass.

I love that BM Bass too! I'd love to show up on a stage with it and get all kinds of curious stares from the unknowledgeable. I think they're 31" scale. I'd slap some flats on it and use it for Beatles, Stones, etc....

I'm interested about this too! I was going to buy an original bass attack, but if I can get the 2 it would be better.

Yes - you want the Bass Attack 2 because it has a separate volume control for the "shape" section which was the only fault of the original. For me and some others I've read it made that portion of the pedal pretty much useless because there was such an increase in volume.

You will not regret getting it at all. They are fantastic pedals - especially for the money and really warm up your tone and add definition to your sound.

I don't know if it was my setup or bad cables, but I had issues with noise the first Attack Pedal. Any one else have this issue?

Resurrecting an old thread here but I'm curious - how does a company introduce something like the Bass Attack 2 at the NAMM Show in January and 6 months later it still hasn't come to the market yet? Summer NAMM has now come and gone already.

Just kind of weird. Is that standard practice?

It is not uncommon to have delays in production, especially with a new release. But when they say "coming soon", instead of giving a firm date, means they know of all the issues that can set production back.

Amazing that it is October and this pedal STILL hasn't been released. Very strange. Is this common for it to go this long?

I don't have any inside info on this pedal, but I have seen "coming soon" by other manufacturers take well over a year or two.

The pedal that never happened. I still wonder what went on there. How do you announce a product at NAMM and then next year rolls around and it's still not out? Strange. They finally released the standalone pedals though.

I just got an in-stock notification e-mail earlier today from Sweetwater regarding the Hartke Bass Attack 2. I have been through several preamps in the last 3-4 years (Bass Attack, MXR-M80, Zoom B3 & MS-60B, ISP Beta Bass, etc). The original Hartke has such a fantastic tone (albeit with several frustrating limitations that could have made it SO over-the-top great).

These limitations are exactly what the Bass Attack 2 seems set out to address. I'm super excited to see it finally make it to market! Obviously, I won't be able to tell how well the new revisions address the older generation's limits until it arrives (ETA is this Wednesday) & I get some hands-on time with it. Definitely excited though!

But yeah, within 5 minutes of getting an In Stock notification e-mail - I was like...

There may be delays in the UK regarding this as Hartke have lost distribution through Korg so currently nobody brings them into the country
