Hartke hd75 or hd150

Hey guys...I'm looking to buy a new combo amp and I am debating on a hartke hd75 or an hd150. I do like hartke amps and I've been thinking about purchasing on of these amps. when it comes to combo amps, I usually go for the 1x15 combo amps because the 15" speaker absorbs more sound and it's pretty useful for medium-size gigs. but recently, I've been thinking about purchasing a 1x12 combo amp. I was wondering. do 1x12 combo amps have more clarity than a 1x15 combo amp? the reason why I ask is that I'm looking to buy a combo amp that isn't boomy, but has plenty of lows and clarity. so would the hd75 be a good choice for that, or will I do fine with the hd150. thanks for taking the time to read this thread and helping me make my choice.

The only thing speaker size tells you is the size of the hole the speakers go in. You can get 12s that sound more booty than 15s and 15s that are clearer than 12s. It depends on the individual design of the cab. The best thing to do would ve to go down to your local store and try both. That being said, I would go for the 15 just because it will be louder due to more speaker area and more watts.

Then it's settled. I'll be going for the hartke hd150. Plus I usually go for 1x15 bass combos because they absorb more sound and like you said, it louder and has more watts.

I think you do need to go and audition them so you can A/B with your bass. I happen to be a fan of 12" woofers. If tone is the primary concern and not volume, then the HD75 may very well be your huckleberry.

The hartke hd75 would be my 2nd choice if I'm out of reach of owning the hartke hd150. the one thing I care about is if it's loud enough for a medium-sized venue and I'm pretty sure that either one of these amp is loud enough for a medium gig. especially after checking out some reviews on the sam ash website. also I dig the sound quality. so I'll be satisfied with either one.

I just bought an HD150, and it's an all around great combo. I like it more than any other combo I've used in a lot of years.
