Hartke HD75 or Warwick BC80?

I feel that the Warwick is probably built better but it depends on your tone preference. Hartke has more eq options. Is weight an issue at all? If so the fender rumble 100 is in the same price range and will weigh half of what the Warwick and Hartke do. Just for consideration. I know weight isn't everything.

I never see single Warwick Amp in my local GC, but the HD75 produce clean, punchy and clear tone compare to Scoop and deeper Vintage tone from light weight Fender Rumble 100. Both is nice combo, just the tone character is different.

Off-topic : HD75 has more weight than his bigger brother ~ KB12.

I have the Warwick, it's ok but I don't find the tone that great. I think it may have something to do with the EQ frequencies bass, low mid, high mid, treble are set at 80/ 800 / 2500 / 10k. Coming from my GK the mid frequency centres are not that useful to me.

Also the top handle broke.

Thanks for all the help on this. So to the last post what do you think about the one before regarding eq? Does it work for you in terms of tone color?

I've only had it a few weeks, but the EQ seems good. I get most of my tone out of my pedal, and haven't used the amp outside of one room in my house. After tweaking it for a few hrs, I determined the best sound was with everything flat. ;)

The best way I can describe the amp is - Don't expect a unique tone from the actual amp. It is really clean, like you are plugged into a really good board/PA. It has plenty of low end, but does not get muddy or distorted at all. Think of it more as a great monitor that will sound like your bass and any effects. What you send to the amp is what you will hear. No coloring of the sound in any way, no distortion/clipping at any volume.

I would use the EQ for tweaking, or for a specific room, but I wouldn't count on a drastic change in tone.

Thanks! This is really helpful. BTW what pedal are you using?

While awaiting the Trace Elliot Transit B I ordered 4 months ago <grrrrr>, I'm still using a Zoom B2. Decent multi effects as stock, can make same good sounds if you get in and mess with the settings. About half the time I use the bypass with no effect.

Here's a video review I found that sums up the features and EQ pretty well. Also, I play finger style and mostly rock and blues so I have never had the comp light turn on while I play. If you slap, it looks like this would come in to play.

A little follow up. I was playing around with a bass I don't play often, which is a single coil that is not shielded. Plugging in to the BC 80 was the first time it was completely quiet.

I've run it thru many different amps and PA's. I don't know if it's the electronics or something else, but I was amazed.
