Hartke LH500

Well, it's been months since I said I really needed to get one of these, but ...

I just checked the Bass Northwest site, and they had a LH500 for $249. I snatched it up. :)

Can't wait to throw it on top of my EV TL606's!

There's is one thing I just don't understand about the EQ. The manual says, that bass, mids, and treble are somewhat interactive and they feed each other. But I just can't figure out what that means. Can somebody help me out on that, please?

You could try bass and mid at twelve o'clock and the treble higher (just boost it till it sounds good). Then for fine tuning turn down the bass (if too muddy/not sharp enough) and turn up the mid if you don't have enough growl.

The tone is just what I remembered, and this combo (head cab and bass) sounds great together.

Amazing tone, and a great price ($249 for the head, and $300 for the pair of TL606's).

Very happy!

Hey Liam, can you compare the tone/heft of your rig when driven by the LH500 and the B1500? From what I've read, the B1500 seems like it's horsepower might be overkill for two 3015-loaded 606 cabs. But a LH500 seems maybe a bit underpowered if the band was loud-ish with little p.a. support. In particular, I find the bass a bit lacking on the LH500, seems like it only has so much in reserve.

When set like I like it, with bass-mid-treble at about 3-10-0, this thing is far from bass shy. I haven't cranked things yet, but so far into just one TL606, anything beyond 3 (9:00) rattles pictures on the shelves. I really think into the pair of cabs I could play any gig I need to play, including the loud, ear-plugs-required, cover band that I used to use the B1500 for.

When set with all controls at noon, I found it very anemic, and quickly switched back to something near the "canonical flat" setting for a Fender tone stack. Loving it! This thing has a richness that I really like.

Interceptor, thanks again for the great deal on the cabs. The drivers have been replaced with Kappalite 3015's but the spirit lives on!

I'm finally getting the stones to buy the LH1000 but I'll have to use it through a 1x15 (8ohms 500w) and I was wondering will it be ok to bridge it? I used the LH1000 bridged with an Eden 2x12 at 8ohms and it was damn lound

Hi everyone. Found something interesting today. Have been subbed to this thread for quite while and owned one of these rigs for about 12 months (see my sig). I have run the amp with bass, mids and treble set at about 5, 5 and 5 and adjusted my bass according to what I wanted. Always liked the tone and thought nothing more of it.
However.
After reading a lot of different posts about the similarities between the Fender Tonestack. Also got online to find a Tonestack calculator. Tried dicking around with some different settings. Have settled upon 2.5, 9.5, 3 and HOLY S#$T! Running the bass in my sig gets me the tone in my head. Listen to Steve Harris' tone on "Wrathchild" from Killers. Im running my bass (with the East pre) flat in active mode with pickups 50/50.
The other interesting thing is this setting provides way more output than I previously needed - no doubt because of the boosted mids. Previously I had to run the volume to at least 7.5 to get over 2 loud guitarists and a very loud drummer. I now only need it at 5-6.
One more added bonus is this setting make the tube pre break up just enough to give my sound some extra growl/grit. Again go and listen to the track I have mentioned, or another track on that album that showcases that sound is "Innocent Exile".
Do you think I can wipe the smile off my face.

lovefist, i don't see any point in bridging it. your cab may be rated at 500w but i've yet to see a 115 cab that can actually take it in real life. it'll sound the same bridged or split. but if you insist, as long as you keep your volume at a level that won't blow it, you'll be ok.

Well, I've played the LH500 through several rehearsals now and continue to love it. The clean warmth that is available just really does it for me. I was initially worried about my fretless, as I do like to boost the mids somewhat when playing a fretless, but I'm running the tone stack at about 2-10-1 and getting great growl.

Can't wait to gig with this thing!
