I currently have my Hartke LX5500 bass amp listed for sale on Reverb. I'm looking to get into a combo instead, I guess I'm simply old school and need to feel the bass in my chest and not only in my head/earbuds which is how I rehearse at home. I have a trade offer of another Hartke, the A100 tilt back combo. They are also trying to sell it but willing to trade.
I'm asking $350 OBO for my amp and they are asking $320 for their combo.
I will be using the combo amp like I am currently just for in home rehearsal and not gigging at all.
My question is:
In comparing the two amps, mine has a 300 watt to 500 watt capability where the trade offer is only 100 watts and an older amp, early 2000's. Would I be foolish to take the trade offer on a less wattage amp even though they are asking the same cash amount only more or less, And consider it simply because I have zero plans to gig. I only play at church on Sundays when scheduled and even then we go direct. A part of me says, "I'd be short changing myself", where another part of me says, "when will you ever use 300 watts much less the full 500?"
I did think of saving some cash and purchasing a 210 cabinet but then I'd have 2 pieces as opposed to one combo and again I have no future gigging plans and even if that were the case we always run the bass direct through a SansAmp DI so I never use an amp.
