Hartke Tx300 Users !!!

anyone here using the hartke tx300 ???
i just got it and i really do like the tone and all feats ... i just feel like i don’t get enough power , i was a tc electronic bh250 owner and looking for a different tone got me to the tx300 , but i feel like i could get louder with the tc than this one , i tried different cab configurations , i have a 210 hydrive and a 410 hydrive
passive jazz bass , even called hartke and tried some of their settings ... i really want to keep the amp but if i can’t even be heard over a drummer behind a glass is gona be hard to ...

It could be a defective head, I just got mine as well but have no issues as far as volume goes. I have a rehearsal tomorrow and I will give it a go against a drummer and let you know what I think. I am running passive Basses as well, have you been able to clip the light on the gain?

Had the same problem with my TX600... Hartke sent me another one but same problem, sold it at a loss and kept my LH500. The TX makes a good backup amp for emergency's since it's 7lbs. and easy to schlep around. Maybe I should have kept it. Good luck!

with gain at may be 1 or 2 it will clip ... so i i was keeping it at 1 and bass at 1 mids at 3 treble at 1 sometimes with the frequency knob on or off ... i felt i was good until everyone starts playing, then the sound got lost ... i used both the 210 cab or the 410 cab (hydrives) that i love !!! but got pretty much the same results ... i really hope yours works out ... i mailed mine back ... btw i really loved the tone and settings ... just felt a bit underpowered thats all !

I know the OP already moved on, but these threads live in posterity, so here's my two cents on the volume. At 8 ohms, this amp puts out 200 watts. That's just not gonna cut it for every band, especially not with just a 210. When I run it at 4 ohms through four 10s, the 300 watts is loud enough for me. It won't be loud enough for everyone.

I think 300-350w is a tricky little range in general. It's not gonna work for every player/band/venue, but I am enjoying the TX quite a bit.

An update on my TX300. I have used it quite a bit in rehearsal and now once on a gig. In rehearsal using just the Hartke HD112 running at 4 ohms I ran into some difficulty pushing the amplifier at a higher volume, the cab started clicking and distorting, but it sounded like a cabinet and not an amp issue. After that and on the gig I ran the cabinet at 8 ohms and paired it with the TC Electronic 2x12 cabinet. Just Bass to Amp with no pedals it sounded beautiful, and the 2 cabinets together caused

so much air displacement I never took the master volume past 10 o'clock.

This is an old thread, but for anyone who is on the fence about the TX300, I can say it has exceeded my expectations--which are pretty high. I bought it two years ago cheap as a backup, and only brought it out last week and this week to sub for my suddenly ailing Peavey Minimax. I do have PA support, but it performed flawlessly both weekends through my SWR 210 Goliath Jr III. I used most of the tone controls at about 3/4, gain at noon, compression at about 3, and the shape knob turned to about 1/3. Volume stayed at or below 11:00. Good, thick tones throughout the night, cool running, and the mute option was appreciated by the soundman, as I unplug my active Yamaha TRX504 between sets. For me, in a 10 piece band, there were no power issues. The minimax was more powerful, though not tremendously so. I'll likely make this my main amp for now and pick up an older rack-type beater as a backup. I don't know how the TX600 would fare, though the tone-stack controls are a challenge if you're not used to them. Used to own an LH500, tried to downsize due to weight, but may grab one if I can as a 2nd amp in easy load-in situations. Only thing I didn't like about the LH500 was the lack of speakon connections. Anyway, hope this helps anyone who wonders about the TX300 in real-world settings.

Funny enough, I was just googling to learn more about the Tx300 and found Charles Barrow above in this thread- he actually sold his to me! I am now running the TX300 through an HD112 and an HL112 stack. It is quite loud, but not as loud at my old TCE BG 250. However, the TONE is so much better and clearer. Playing with a full band in rehearsals, the new Hartke rig cuts through so much clearer than the BG250 ever did (even running with just the HL112 @ 8ohms). Quite happy with it. Only mild complaint is I find it's not loud enough to carry me at outdoor brewery type gigs- but that's an easy fix by just running through the PA too. I don't gig enough to feel the need to get a louder rig. It's super light and modular with the HD & HL setups. I can walk into a gig with the bass in one hand, an HL in the other and the TX300 tucked in my armpit. One trip from the car!
