Harvesting Time - What are you growing?

^
sweet! How hard is it to tend to those things?

Doesn't seem too hard. Haven't used the hops in a beer yet. I plan to use them in addition to traditional hop pellets since it's very difficult to measure and calculate the alpha acid content. I'll mostly use them to overhop some beers and experiment with making hop tea.

With hops in the same family as hemp and nettles, they're basically a weed. A little water and they seem to do alright.

Might spray the area at the end of the year or beginning of next year for spider mites. I will need to set up a better trellis system next year. I just used a conventional wire trellis and I quickly outgrew it. Didn't think they'd grow so quickly the first year.

First pick of green chile being roasted this year! Garden is healthy and thriving.

My patio garden:
Carrots, regular and cherry tomatoes, green and red lettuce, parsley(sp?), basil, pepper, spinach

It was my first gardening year, never did it before. I learned a bunch of things, I'm super proud to eat those vegetables now as I started them from seeds.

End of year post. Our garden did exceptionally well this year. We sold enough at a local farmers market to bankroll all of our activity expenses for next year! So no need for 'donations' to get supplies or repair the tractor or rototiller. We had a hard freeze in the valley over the weekend so we are officially done for the year, though we do have some carrots and turnips that we can harvest. Hope everyone had fun and a big bounty they can count on for the winter. For me I learned how to put up some pickles, salsa, tomatoes and even pickled some green tomatoes.

How was your year?

Bump. What's up in the garden there, boys?

Ok, having moved into a new house I have all kinds of fruits & vegetables now.
I was able to move over my zucchini, purple bell peppers, yellow bell peppers, Virginia Sweet & Black Cherry tomatoes.
On top of that Ive inherited a whole mess of strawberries, an apricot tree, two types of peach trees, a small orange tree and my neighbor has a fig tree that hangs over my fence.

Ive got a purple bell ready to be plucked, my first zucchini is about 6" long and I'll pick it the next time I need one.
The Virginia Sweets are coming in, I have about 7 larger tomatoes and some more smaller ones.
Strawberries are popping up everywhere, and they taste so much better than what you can buy in the store.
I have to harvest some apricots when I get home, since the birds are starting to get to them.

I'll post some pics in the next few days.

I have a bunch of Jals, Habs, Ghosts, Lemon peppers, Carmens, Tiburons, and a variety of herbs and tomatoes growing. The only change this year is that we are running with a significantly smaller foot print since we sold our house that had land... :(

In a garden of 30 x20 - I am currently harvesting Juliet & Roma tomatoes, a variety of sweet bell peppers, jalapenos, cucumber, zucchini, straight neck yellow squash, okra, and onions.

Had a great small crop of sugar snaps and snow peas which I planted all around the fence line of the garden...harvested those 4 weeks ago, then blanched and froze the peas. Looks like another couple of weeks and I'll have cantaloupe.
