Has anybody ordered a darkstar recently?

Just wondering if anybody placed an order recently?

I ordered a pair 5 weeks ago, was told it would be done in 3 to 4 weeks and havent heard a thing from him since.

Cant get hold of him in any way.

Anybody knows anything?

The guy just takes his sweet time. I ordered a set a few years ago (back when The Dudepit was still a force to be reckoned with), and it took the guy forEVER. Well past his initial deadline. However they did finally arrive, and DAMN were they worth it.

I'm thinking about ordering a DS3N, but I don't care to wait an unreasonable amount of time.

I don't think it's a matter of one model is more difficult/time consuming to make, I think the guy just likes to take his sweet time I think you will love the ever-lovin' sh** out of the DS3Ns if you decide to order them. Me, I'd order another set in a heartbeat and damn the wait, if I had another Lakland Hollowbody to put them in. They really are worth it IMHO, nothing else on the market even comes close to nailing "that tone", especially if you're putting 'em in a Lakie.

Don't forget that those Darkstars are handmade by one guy, Fred Hammon. It's not a factory churning out pickups by the hundreds. I can't say if he's ever hired staff to help him with his builds, but it is definitely a "cottage industry" setup.

I ordered a set of DS 3 N and B....
Its now been 6 weeks instead of the 3 to 4 announced!
I know hes working on his own, i was just afraid of another Dr bass scenario... Hope i end up getting them soon.

I think I'll wait to order.

Meantime, I'll keep looking for a used DS3N

I ordered one for my Landing ss Tele bass and had it sent directly to Landing. After 6 weeks of nothing, I inquired about it with Jimmy and Jimmy sent him an email. Two or three weeks later it arrived.

So yeah, he does take his sweet ol' time.

i ordered a pair about 4-5 weeks ago for my dearmond starfire and he told me last week they were shipping on thursday. i'm checking the mail every day...

sure. i just got a ups shipping notice saying they've been shipped with an expected delivery this monday. looking forward to getting back into a ds'ed bass!

Im getting close to the 7 weeks mark and getting pretty annoyed and impatient!

i ordered mine on april 17. i think less than 2 months is good for a completely hand made pair of pickups. but the waiting is hard. i hope you get yours soon!

Yeah waiting is the hardest part. But the pickups are FANTASTIC ....I've built 3 Custom bass guitars with the DS Pickups,its always been 6 to 8 weeks,for this current project i ordered two DS 3Ns, just so i'd have an extra one. Hopefully i'll have them by the 4th of july......MS
