Has anyone been in recent contact with Max at Pyramid Strings??

@OldCoupeTom has ordered recently from Max Junger at Pyramid. So has @RodRy.

Got my strings from Max maybe 4 days ago. Wonderful transaction. Impressed with the strings and service. They fit perfectly and are a vast improvement over the round wounds that were previously on my MIJ super short (25" scale) hatchet (can't really call it an ax I guess). Yes, Max is there, factory is working and I'm about to order a second (back up set...you know, kinda' the "lifetime supply" type of thing). Hope this helps. BTW, the shipping envelope was stuffed with 5 post cards, a sticker, a short history of the factory (since 1850 BTW), a couple of drink pads (?) and a couple of large picks. The strings were well marked and individually wrapped and overall their company presentation through the contents of that mailer was first class. Price was reasonable and included shipping. Paypal is used and makes the switch to Euros. Be aware however that Paypal does deduct a very modest "spread allowance" so they don't get shorted by any currency exchange rate fluctuations over night. I simply added a Euro to the purchase price to allow for that. Easy peasey and around $60 all told, considering i needed 3 short and one long, all short to the taper and light gauge.

Did you break his heart by getting caught buying strings from Thomastik?

Hee!

I have been using custom made sets of tapes and roundwounds from Pyramid exclusively for the past year and a half. Max was the only one willing to make tapes for a 23" scale uke bass. If he has indeed cut me off for whatever reason then I will have to find some other custom string maker. Since you mentioned them, do you think TI would be able to make strings to custom specifications?? I've heard they are very expensive but that they last forever.

I must conclude that Max is ghosting me. :(

Boy my experience was vastly different. Make sure you are using the correct email address from their site. To my eyes, it appeared a bit "inverted" but that is exactly the way it works. I just (as in about 1/2 hour ago) ordered a second set. Remember there is at least a 5 hour differential in time zones...and I am East Coast too. Also, I did try to resurrect a wee bit of my college German to "flavor" my correspondence. I don't think it hurts to thank someone whom I regard as doing me a favor (using my language) to try to thank him in his language. Not saying you didn't...just mentioning what my experience has been thus far. Also, my bass is a super short scale (vintage MIJ at 25") so he may have viewed fitting it correctly as a bit of a challenge...who knows. They do fit, they do sound good to me, so I am happy. Your results may vary?

I replied to the last email he sent to me on July 25, where he told me about the upcoming factory holiday until August 22. So it must be the correct email address ([email protected]). Max has been very helpful with the custom 23" scale uke bass tapes and roundwounds, and I would describe our exchanges as pleasant and courteous. I have thanked him in every email, although not in German.

Please forgive me if it sounded as if I were being critical of your contact with Max. Not in the least. I was merely reciting what I did. I believe your email is Max's direct contact mail as that was my experience. I am stunned to learn that the factory has a one month hiatus during high vacation season, but good for them! You obviously have been in touch with Max since then. From your experience you do sound like a "regular customer" whereas my contact with Max was my first. I did find that writing to him in (for me) the early A.M. here got the quickest responses. Presumably he would be at his desk or work station in the middle of his day and more likely to immediately see your email? Man, aside from that, I have nothing to offer. I guess I'd just persist. But then again, I'm 80 and can afford the time to sit at the computer a bit and write to people. You more than likely have a life to lead that's a lot more interesting than that so you may not have time to keep chasing Max! Good luck. If I do not hear back from my new order, I'll surely let you know.

Oh, that little beast is a real beauty! Best looking uke-scale bass I've ever seen!

I don't know why Max has not responded, but it does not seem that he would be ghosting you. Not that I know the man, but he was friendly and prompt in all my dealings with him, and the fact that you've purchased from there before would mean that he's got reason to believe you may purchase again. I don't know what method of reply you used before, but you could try either "reply" to the last message you got from him, or just make a fresh email and send to the address. And if you have a different email account you could try using that. Some spam filters are known to flag emails coming from a particular server or provider. Couldn't hurt, right?

I guess what I'm saying is, beautiful bass, and I don't know why you have not heard back.

Thank you for your compliments!

I thought about the possibility of his email program marking my address a spam for some reason. So I went ahead and emailed him from my other account. Hopefully it will work.

Thanks again!
