Has anyone here seen KONG?

Godzilla picked him up on Craigslist...
Chuck Norris was limping painfully after him...
Counting the dark matter magnets?

Did you post on craigslist? It may still be local.
Good idea; thanks!

I really want to build a Kong clone. That bass is soo awesome.
"Son of Kong"? ;)
I was thinking of that myself; hachi kid mentioned Warmoth (on the 3rd page).
Hmmmm...

I was thinking, I think it would just barely fit, but a Nordy Fat Stack at the bridge (that's +1 knob, +1 mini switch), a SD Cool Rails in between the Js and P, and maybe a Delano JSBC in between the P and mudbucker.

And a piezo. That's +4 pickups, at least +4 knobs and probably at least two switches.

I'm inspired now, and predicting a 32" scale Kongzilla 2.0 in the future for me.

Exactly, but with even more switches.

Normally, I like a real simple bass (not too many knobs and switches), and one that's very lightweight.

But I'd make an exception for KONG. It's simply just too badass in its extreme excess in weight and complexity.

OP: I really hope you find it. Failing that, a KONG clone bass would be a great tribute.

I wonder what the cost of a severely scaled down KONG would be:

Natural finish body (maybe mahogany this time, for KONG-LIKE boom!)
J Neck (less mass, faster, etc), dunno what wood (Wenge for KONG SMASH mids?)
3 Pickups:
Dark Star or similar
P (quarter pounders?)
J (quarter pounder?)

Could they all be passive? I don't know anything about electronics really. But for that wide a variety of pickups, I can only imagine the versatility of it, especially with quick witted EQ'ing..

I wonder what this Kong-Lite would cost. Assuming warmoth parts. Or allparts if mahogany isnt necessary....
