Mine smells more like a subtle cinnamon, with a hint of citrus.

Isn't guncotton used in making flashpaper? I would assume that a filter covered in nitro would act in a similar fashion.Spontaneously? Maybe under the right circumstances. Have you ever removed used filters from a spray booth in which ncl has been sprayed and struck said filters with a hammer?
