Has anyone put a pick guard on an L2000?

It's just a personal thing i guess.

Maybe it has to do with genre roots and bass associations, i dunno...

I know what i like.. and it's pick guards, and if that makes me 'less classy', i'm quite alright with that.

If my gf ever caught me saying anything like that she would not be happy. If I wear clothes that don't match and or are not in current style I am told to go change.

I was thinking about getting an L1000 in 2-color (tobacco) sunburst and putting a white guard on it like my 56 P bass.

Yeah, I prefer pg's too. I think the no pg look screams buttoned up fantsy pants look. Im more of a pg guy mice elf. Hell I cant remember the last time I tucked in a shirt.

I usually leave my shirts untucked, too. My shirts are generally nicer to look at than my pants, so I show more shirt.

My basses generally have nice wood and a nicer-looking finish than a p/g, so I want more of that to show, too.

yeah, the lack of pickguard has always ruined these basses for me. the lines of a well designed pickguard really enhance the styling of a bass, at least in my eyes. G&L probably know their market well enough to know most probably don't want one here in the states, but i suspect with the current marketplace and the youngsters coming up nowadays, that'll likely change.

you might inquire with the G&L custom shop about it... since the japanese models do have clear pickguards, they should at least be able to point you in the right direction.
