Has anyone rehoused a pf500 into a micro vr case?

I know this is crazy, but has anyone tried to do this? The regular micro vr is great, but needs a bit more power for two cabs. So, the pf500, but I want that look.

So, am I completely crazy for considering this? Anyone have an ugly pf500 they want to sell me for this experiment and I’ll post the process?

Don't really know, but taking into account the Micro-VR has a plywood/MDF case and the PF-500 case is metal, realistically speaking the Micro-VR probably has closer to 3" less available internal width, rather than 2".

The PF-500 case is also 0.8" deeper than the Micro-VR case.

Here's your internals of a pf500, click on the post below, there's several photos. Looks like about an inch clearance on each side of the board. But no clearance on depth.

My PF500 arrived today. Got this second hand from a GC in Texas that Fenderhutz clued me in about. It is missing the feet, and it's pretty scratched up for being only a couple months old. If I hadn't got it so cheap I'd be more worried about it - but at that price, I really couldn't compalin. Figured if nothing else it will make a nice backup or jam night head.

Right away I paired it up with three different cabs- my SVT-215E, the '63 B15N, and my '67 BT-15C. Overall, the B15 cab was the winner. Nice lows and lots of vintage tone. I really think you could power that cab with just about...

I’m not really sure how it would work anyway. What would you use for the faceplate?

If you want a PF series to look more vintage, put some orange LEDs inside 4” plastic garden pots and glue them to the top and call it a day.

How about you just buy one of my amps? They look the part and have plenty of power.

Thread 'DIY bass amp'

This project came about after happening across a prototype VHT all tube bass amp. I posted a thread on it. Long story short, sounded fantastic, but just wasn't powerful enough for my needs.

I set out to try and capture it's sound and make it louder. The original amp was definitely a test mule as it was very much modified from the original layout. I did take it a bit further by tweaking a few things to suit me. This would be my starting point, duplicating the preamp and adding an ICEpower 700 amplifier module.

I picked up a transformer and some parts and with the help of some TB friends...
