Has anyone seen/tried these j pups? Thoughts?

Alright, so I didn't really make an A/B video but I gotta say that I'm really impressed with this Black Gold pup and Epic Custom Shop has another customer in me for when I'm looking for P or J pickups in the future.

It's hard to fully quantify, but everything just sounds...better. Smoother, more defined, with deeper lows and brighter highs. I could even do passable punk bass even with the Ernie Ball flats it has currently.

Absolutely adore mine. I had a Fender Mike Dirnt on backorder and I was planning on using my Squier CV as a backup to it. Then I put in that Black Gold and it just sounds so thick and fat and punchy that I ended up cancelling my Mike Dirnt and getting something totally different instead. I just didn't think that it would sound "better enough" than my little $350 Squier CV with the $50 Black Gold pup in it to justify having that much more expensive of the same kind of bass.

If I end up getting another P-bass for whatever reason I'm absolutely getting another Black Gold. Probably the best value I've ever gotten from a pickup. Hand wound, legit vintage tone and heat and punch for $50! It's unreal.

Just installed the PJ1 set in my build and they THUMP!!! Really loving them.

I had great communication with Reech. Tell him what you are looking for in a pickup and he will either tell you which one to pick or custom wind one for you.

From the sound samples I have heard and what I am getting from the J bridge pickup in my PJ, I would definitely say the E1 is what you are looking for.

Got a reply from Reech:

"I would actually like to recommend an E2 but with thinner plain enamel wire for you. You’ll get more output but still staying reasonably balanced for a full, rich sound. Let me know if this interests you and I’ll shoot over an invoice since they aren’t listed on the website. It’s the same price as a normal E2 set. Just let me know if you need a 92/95 mm set or a 92/92 mm set. Reech sent me more info on the Jazz pups:

"The thinner plain enamel wire gives more physical room to add more windings to increase the output. It lowers the resonance frequency a bit too but not too much to make it muddy. So you’ll get solid bass and mids but won’t completely drown out the treble."
