Has anyone used the Mesa Boogie Subway preamp? How is it?

I have the head with the same pre amp. I like it. It's more of a cleaner modern sound. There is some type of analog tube simulation that is more audible when I'm pushing it harder because of that I always have the input set to passive even when I use active basses. It takes pedals nicely. The eq is very usable, by that I mean it's flexible enough without being overly complicated. The deep switch combined with the fixed HPF gives the low end the perfect treatment imo. In fact that's probably what I like most about it.

I had the 1st version Mesa preamp, not the plus. If you want a warm fat sound, or cleaner tone it's great. I wanted a little more hair on my tone so I moved on. But it was a well built and drove a power amp great. It's DI was also stellar.
