Either this or a repair and refinish like bassbenji described. By a DIFFERENT luthier.

In fact, I can't use that term for what this guy did. What he did is more like a rough carpenter who does framing try to build furniture. Solid and won't fail, but not pretty to look at.

Or a butcher.

I’d also refrain from emailing the guy first. If you want to email him, just let him know you found a problem you would like him to look at and ask when he’s available. Always better to do these types of things in person.

You know, I think there something to be said for giving someone a chance to make things right. This kind of thing is very upsetting, but there is probably a larger lesson for the repair guy to learn here. There may be a few factors involved and it’s always worth going in to actually talk to them about it and see what you can Work out.

I agree, that's why I qualified it with "if he didn't make things right".

I'm sorry, but if you put yourself out there as a pro, you damn well better turn out pro work. If something goes sideways, which can happen, you must be a pro about that as well.

That means a call to the customer with an explanation, and a remedy. You don't try to slip it by hoping they don't notice.

This wasn't even close to being pro, in terms of the work, or what followed.

This makes me sad because I also have an ADE Fender and I remember seeing this LPB one when it was delivered. This situation would be crushing if it happened to me. I don't have suggestions on how to proceed but I'm hoping some satisfactory resolution can be found. Good luck!

Reached out to Fender to find out about a new body. TL;DR: They can't but they recommended Warmoth ...

in 2014 I bought one of the early ADE basses
A lake placid blue precision bass ... my daughter (4 at the time) grabbed my ipad and designed it
I loved it, had her name put on the neck plate and everything
I even did an unboxing video when I got it that you at Fender ran on the website
I decided I wanted to add a Jazz pickup to it, so I brought it to a local "reputable" guitar repair shop and luthier
He BUTCHERED it
He aligned the pickup with the bridge. The rout was a disgrace and, now, for all intents and purposes, the bass is ruined - only worth the cost of parts

You may want to check with a partner of ours in Warmoth Guitars. They make licensed custom versions of our bodies that I imagine could certainly accommodate the color and custom routing.

Unfortunately no, none of the production model bodies are set up for direct sale. I couldn't sell one if I wanted to.

I'm glad you got in contact with them. Sucks they were unable to help but at least you know that's an option off the table. And you have a recommendation if needed to present to the luthier.

Great option here. I remember seeing photos of a trans-burst J route fill on a vintage P from either Dan Atkinson or John Kallas. Maybe even PM those guys to see if they have any interest on working on your bass.

The more quotes and options you have, the better prepared you will be for your discussion with the shop.
