have $250 to spend on a practice/small-jams amp. suggestions?

Hi there!

I'm a bass noob! I'm currently looking for an amp I can use for practice and small jams (garage/ parties/ etc.). I have a budget of around $250. I play rock and some jazz. Can you please suggest some amps for me to check out? Thanks!

Used Ampeg b100r or b200r. I have each and got both under $250. A bit heavy, but not that bad and work great for rehearsal. If you need more than that, probably time to turn down the guitar.

i did see a NOS laney R1 in a music store. they are selling it for $200. is that a good deal?

Definitely used- Hartke Kickback 12/15 or Peavey. Be patient- there are lots of people needing to raise a few duckets all over these days. TB classifieds are the best.

google shopping search line 6 studio 110. They will be $250 instead o gc $300. Use the guarented best price to your advantage and you can get it for $245. Thats what I did saved $55. It's a great amp and plently loud.

which particular hartke and peavey models should i look for?
are laney RB amps any good?
the store manager said they have a shipment of Gk backlines coming in. he recommends i get a backline 112 over a laney rb3. should i wait for it?

Hartke: Kickback 12 or Kickback 15.
Peavey: Go for the largest & most powerful you can get- with your budget, you should be able to find something decent.

Edit: The GK Backlines I've messsed with were nice for the price. Check them out, I say.

+1 for the Hartke Kickback 12. I had one for years, great little amp, small, potent, also has a DI out if you need to enlist the PA for bigger sound. I really enjoyed the tone shaping control on that amp!
