Dear fellows, not sure if it is the proper section, but I need some light in a matter.
I paid for a Phil Jones Cub Pro 460€ shipping included to a guy in Germany (I'm in Spain). Some things made me suspect last minute before paying, like an uncommon email with lots of numbers. I had to argue a bit to make him send a real picture of the amp with him holding it or something, and he eventually sent a pic of the amp with my name written on the box. I paid and in a matter of minutes I got the tracking number. So early??? I suspected because the company is from Canada and it does big cargo shippings and so on. Weird, why hiring such thing for a small box? The info was that on the picture. Pickup date is tomorrow, which might make sense but the tracking number said the package was already halfway. Trackings are not always accurate... but I was already wondering when would be the surprise. The surprise came today in an email where says the following:
"I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to inform you that your shipment has been temporarily held due to an outstanding insurance fee. The insurance fee is 97% refundable upon delivery.
In accordance with our shipping policies, all packages must be insured to ensure their safe and secure delivery. The fee for this insurance is €157.99.
Please be advised that the fee is fully refundable upon delivery, so long as the shipment is received in good condition. At the delivery point, you will receive a 97% refund of the insurance fee paid"
Now the alarms are on and I feel I've been clearly cheated. I wrote the guy and he pretends to be surprised. After arguing he said he would pay the 160€. I still have to believe it.
Does it sound to you as weird as it does to me?
I've sold and bought so many things and I am a believer that among colleagues there must be trust to each other. It's a pity that things like that happen.
I'll inform you if eventually everything is in my mind and there's a happy ending. But by now I assume I've given away 460 bucks.
