I use PayPal G&S AND a Credit Card (linked through PayPal). Haven't had to try out the options of getting refunds, but I think this way, I have two options, first through PayPal, and second through my Credit Card.

OP needs to call DHL and see if they have any record of this. That will put this to bed quick, fast, and in a hurry.
Yeah... this exact scenario is why you DON'T send via F&F.
If the seller says they want F&F, tell them you're happy to pay an extra 3% for 'Goods and Services.'
If they refuse, they're scamming you.

Agree it is a scam. I am sorry to hear about this OP. At least it is not a very large sum of money for a custom bass etc. Maybe you can get some money back via the bank, credit card or (less likely given F&F) via paypal. Or at least report it to Paypal when you confirm what is going on. Keep us posted if you receive the item.

Indeed guys. Case closed and 460€ donated. It is up to the "seller" to refund. Karma will do its work I'm sure. I'll contact the bank but the card used is debit not credit. And PayPal didn't accept a dispute and it is reasonable by now.

DHL is being used by a lot of scammers sorry to say. If you used paypal just report it as a scam
they will do an investigation. If after giving you the bla bla you shouldn't deal with people you don't know story

Sorry for the Misfortune,i found out the hard way to always use credit instead of debit card.Banks kind of suck when it comes to getting a dispute settled.
As was said, always use credit cards for transactions. I only use my debit card as an ATM card at the bank on rare occasions. I stopped using
my debit card years ago. Too risky. I hope things work out for you one way or another. Good luck!

For the mass majority you are correct, you still have to be careful though. My account was hacked a few months back, and my username was used to sell a bunch of gear here on TB. A few good TB'ers got scammed out of a lot of money. I feel I am still trying to regain my " Street Cred " after that mess. VERY SORRY to hear that story from the OP.

Seems like over half of sellers on TB ask for PayPal F&F or other non-secure payment; The rating system and familiarity with regular sellers limits the scam but if there is a problem with product uh-o
I don't care how many great sellers are on TB, if any of them ask for F&F Paypal, it's a hard no from me.
Paypal has helped me out a lot several times. I got robbed buying a bass, about 1500 bucks, it was a scam and Paypal gave me the money, they refunded me money several other times too. It's actually safer than using a bank.

This makes no sense. Your bank won't care if you get cheated. I hope you aren't giving your account numbers to random sellers.

PayPal allows you to pay via credit card as well.
+1 to both of these things.
Unless the person is literally friends and family negotiate a deal that allows you to use PayPal's buyer protection, or pass.
I realize this is too late for OP, and I'm sorry you had to learn this in this way... many of us have learned this lesson the hard way one way or another through the years.
