Have to comment on Guitar Parts Resource

I bought a bridge from them last Christmas. It arrived quickly, however I noticed a problem with it. I emailed and called and left messages several times and even faxed once. Nothing. I complained about them to my charge card company and they reimbursed me. I still never heard a word from guitarpartsresouce.com. I cannot recommend them and will never do business with them again. There is no excuse for customer service that poor.

Thanks,
Mike

I really have to post my story here. This is what happened:

In late March, I ordered some hardware (about 120 euro's worth I believe). After waiting several weeks I have yet to receive the package. After doing some research I find out that my package was lost in the mail somewhere in the US. BPR files a lost package form for me. After this I tried several times to contact them through mail, but to no avail. I have not a single answer. No attempt to help me at all. These people are very rude just ignoring their customers. DO NOT BUY from them.

PS I tried to contact USPS through mail, but their form demands that I fill in a US residence, which I obviously do not have. Can someone please help me with this and ask about my package (or send my e-mailadress to them)? PM me please if you do! Thanks.

As far as I was aware, it's standard procedure these days to send a confirmation e-mail to a customer stating their order has been received. I never received any sort of acknowledgment from them. After checking my PayPal account again, I was giving a tracking number. Apparently, the two jazz bass pickup covers (plastic covers, not metal covers) I ordered are VERY complicated to ship, because it's been one week since they received my payment and it was just processed.

It's safe to say, I will take my business elsewhere as well.

I've had good luck with GPR /BPR.

However, I've had to tweak every aftermarket pickguard I've ever bought.

Except for the ones I get from www.pickguardian.com

You send Tony your original guard or a template and he makes a perfect duplicate made to you specs, then sends you your new guard and the original back.

Top of the line service, quality and turn around time in my book.

guitarpartsresource and basspartsresource have had a few threads on here over the years... and i've had a few experiences with them (but will NEVER have another).

the good: great selection, great prices, fast shipping

the bad: ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. and i mean none. and more importantly, they have a history of selling b-stock and defective products as new, and then ignoring the customer when they have a problem. there have been a few threads on this.

My experience: first time ordering i only got a few knobs. Great transaction in the sense that nothing went wrong. I had no need to contact customer service, so yay, great job. Second order... i was buying all sorts of upgrades for an SX including a string retainer, knobs, bridge, pots, and a tusq nut. So i place the order... about 10 minutes after ordering i realized i mistakenly ordered 2 knobs instead of 3. Should be a simple fix to get them to add a third knob to be included in my shipment, no? I promptly sent a simple email, and called their number, no answer, left a voicemail. A day goes by, no response. I call and email again, no answer. I didn't leave a voicemail because I figured i'd keep calling til i reached someone. I called on the hour for 8 hours. Next day did the same thing, and emailed again. At this point I realized that they simply don't check emails, ever, and that they don't answer phone calls or return voicemails. Ever. So be it, i order the 3rd knob elsewhere, their loss. This was an acceptable albeit far from ideal situation as it was my own mistake in the beginning.

And here's where it gets hairy. So the order arrives the next day... hey, that was fast! Great, right? No. The "tusq nut" was shipped loose in the box, without any kind of markings, labeling, or packaging. For all I know I just bought a 10 cent plastic SX nut (for about $7) to replace my 10 cent plastic SX nut that had cracked. And then I look closer... the "new" tusq nut was sold as pre-slotted... but these slots were cut so low that there was no possibility of using it on an instrument. The depth of these slots was insane, at least 7/8 the height of the entire nut, rendering the product useless. I promptly emailed Basspartsresource, lo and behold, no reply. I didn't accuse them of selling shady parts (which i'm pretty sure this was), but simply told them it was defective and that i'd like to return it. No reply. I emailed dozens of times over the next two weeks, called dozens of times, and they never once bothered to reply. I came on here to post about the experience and found several other folks who had had the exact same experience with the unusable "tusq" nuts, and never being able to get in touch with someone. I probably could have had my credit card company get my money back, but i opted to eat the $7 and take it as a lesson learned. Had my local tech fabricate and slot a bone nut for me and it turned out great.

As for this company... I can't in good conscience recommend them to anyone as they literally have no customer service. I would highly advise anyone considering them to stay away.

Well, I must say, you folks are making me nervous. As I said earlier, I've ordered from them a few times, and had no problems, However, there seems to be a trend here. For the near future, I think I will be limiting any orders from them to small items I may have difficulty getting elsewhere.
How does Allparts service compare?

I've bought from BPR may times with no issues. (I guess lucky for me)

However, for the last 18 mos. I have been buying almost everything from MadisonsMusicStore.net (Ben Lindsey). The website is under construction, (very little content, except a pic of his cute daughter... Madison) but Ben can get most stuff (Fralin, Pickguardian, Hipshot, etc) and at a decent price. Great guy to work with too!

I've placed several orders with BPR and never had any problem. Before i placed my first order I read here they were not exactly timely in updating their online stock status and if you ordered an out of stock item it might be a while before you got it. After reading this I always sent an email inquiring about stock status of the items I wanted to buy before I placed an order and i always got a reply within 24 hours telling me how many of each P/N I asked about they had in stock.

I never got any post order confirmation or followup of any kind, but I always got my complete order in a timely manner so I never had any reason to try to communicate with them post sale.

Guess I just got lucky.

I have had nothing but good experiences with GPR/BPR. They always ship fast and their prices are good. I have never had an aftermarket guard that didn't need a little massaging to fit perfectly, so I don't think I would have even tried to return it. But they should have handled it better.

I've ordered from basspartsresource.com numerous times. I always receive a Paypal confirmation when I complete the order, and again when my order ships with tracking number. I live north of Toronto, and always receive my packages within 5 business days. I'll continue to order from them.

Greetings all. I must say i have dealt with guitar/bass parts resource several times and have only had postive experiences. Most of what i bought including pick guards and small miscellaneous parts fit/worked perfectly. Not every part i bought from them fit to my satisfaction, and in such case i emailed them, got an RA within a couple days, i returned the products in new condition with original packaging and received a full refund.
Last week i emailed them identifying myself as a returning customer and asked if they had replacement/upgrade tuners for a specific bass guitar i just purchased. They took the time to research my predicament and made an appropriate recommendation.
I have had several transactions with them and each and every one was positive. In fact i ordered an upgrade bridge from them today. I did my homework and expect the bridge to fit, but if it doesn't i fully expect to be able to return it for full credit (less shipping).
My sense of them is that they are a small company and they maintain a large inventory for us.
Based on my personal experiece I totally recommend them to anyone in need of their products.
