Having trouble going Pee

here is my dilemma -

I can't pee enough, maybe it is my prostate?

So, I ordered Super-Bee-Pee online as a "free" sample (plus shipping and "handling")

Now, not only do I get up 5 times per night to TRY to go pee - but my credit card is getting charged for more crap that I didn't order!

Why the heck would I need Super-Manly-Man-Forever if I'm standing in front of the toilet all night?

Any advice?

(wife would appreciate any info as to why I haven't turned into Super-Manly-Man)

I just need advice on how to go P.

I don't like doctors, so I avoid them. But if you feel like it's a serious problem then maybe you should get it checked out. If you think it's just something like stress that's causing it, then I would say just make the necessary life changes that you need and avoid spending your time and money and going down a road you may not need. Also my completely amateur and medically unqualified advice is if it was me I would just go heavy on the water intake and see if that would fix it.

You'd be surprised. I play bass but I'm also a full professor in a university medical school. and when I say that an enlarged prostate is nothing to fool around with, I actually *do* know what I'm talking about. There's way too many men dying of prostate cancer because they avoid their doctors, take bogus home cures or drink water hoping it'll make them urinate better. There are times to take staying alive seriously.

There ya go. I'd go with this then out of all the posts. Out of curiosity, what do you think of my theory that it may be stress related? Is that a possibility?

It's very unlikely. A person might not be able to urinate on the spot due to stress, say with someone else looking or some other embarrassment, but that isn't going to produced repeated urgency and inability to void.

To get back to the OP, a family doc will do a rectal exam and likely recommend blood work for PSA level (a biochemical signal for the presence of a prostate tumor). PSA isn't a reliable diagnostic these days, but just a useful sign that there might be trouble. A referral to urology is what will likely follow. And I'd just say again that an enlarged prostate can occur for any number of benign reasons but it *does* need to be treated if it's interfering with urination, sleep, etc.

While I am not surprised that there are genuinely knowledgeable and/or experienced(in this area)TBers(& your post makes much sense- he said, bowing slightly :)), I am fairly amazed that one would dig for info on this problem here. If my junk looked at me sideways I'd be on the phone making an appointment w/the best junk doc in town. That or PMing you. :D
